In after years, when you and I With pallid Ups and listless eye, Will speak of days that used to be When life was youth to you and me, How sweet twill be for ‘me to say I’ve loved you fondly every day. In after years, when strength shall fall And blushing cheek grow wan and pale, ’Twiss be a consolation true For me to softly say to you, You were the one who won my heart And woke to life my better part. In after yesrs, when death shall call, And I drink of his bitter gall, I’ll sink to rest still confident* Your every fault was good intent. And if I thought you careless here, I just misunderstood you, dear. —Stephen Shannon. A PARAMOUNT ISSUE. The question burns in the hearts and stimulates the minds of many women today. They see clearly that to maintain integrity of soul there must be change in customs, in laws, as a natural result of evolution. Protection, food, clothing, shelter and love, when they come as a re turn for complete and absolute serv ice, physical, mental and moral, for a lifetime, are not enough. Many men and women are terrified at the expression, "sex war.” The expression is now, bub the fact Is as old as human slavery. There was sex war when the first man took pos session of the first woman. There would be no sex war, and could be only love, understanding and co-operation between the sexes, but for an unnatural condition. The su preme rulers and owners of the world are men. Labor unions and all types of rebel lion are masculine protests against human supremacy of one man over another. All pay envelopes received by wem en .all business operated by women, all property earned and possessed by them, are* eloquent demands for hu man rights. That discontent which we have call ed noble in the English lords, in the common people of England, in the col onists who made these colonies of America a great and splendid np.tLn, the King of England called Ignoble discontent. Naturally, the discontent manifest- Hair Tinting Made Easy Many thousands of women have put up with streaked and gray hair be cause they knew of no absolutely safe way to overcome this robber of youth and attractiveness. It is a fact that women are discon tented. They are making demands just as men have made demands, and are still making them. Women know that to make verbal demand alone for anything is futile. When the lords of England were de pendent upon the king, their demand for rights was puerile. But when the lords could do without what the king furnished, their demands were potent. It was not until the common people of England became a formidable foe that the English lords and English king gave to the common people what they demanded. It was not until people dared call superstition superstition, that the an cient and honorable divine righ.t of kings was frankly acknowledged to be a bubble. The American colonists proved to the king that they had the power to make a nation in making it. And for the colonists, the king was dead. FRIEND OR FOE? Among the enemies of Everywoman who throng the stage in the later acts of that deservedly popular morality, should be included Impulse. The truly fiendish treachery of this companion of Youth and follower of Age may be seen reflected in the headlines of any paper: “Party of young joy riders killed in an accident.” “Heiress who eloped with chauffeur wishes to return home.” “Young wife commits suicide.” “Runaway daughter of prominent family found penniless in strange city." “Prominent man’s wife caught shop lifting"—and so on. Every day im pulse claims its victims uncounted, most of which never get into the pa pers. We all know how easily he per suades us to betray a sacred confi dence, to confide a secret anxiety to a supposed friend, to voice an unwor thy suspicion, to give way to a sud den temptation. He makes all kinds of fools, sometimes only harlequins with whistle and painted cap, some times violences with pointed swojds whose scars once received on the heart can only be erased by death. Yet fair are the gardens to which Impulse occasionally admits one, through a sudden door in the day's blank wall! How is one to know? O, Everywoman, has Nobody ever told you tc hearken to the voice of Impulse only when it is joined with that of sober Second Thought?—Chat tanooga News. FASHION FADS. Soft white blouses are worn with tailored suits. White crystal with jet beads re used together. Check and plaid cotton satines are in great demand. If you would be in fashion have something with a stripe in it. No need of bursting skirt seams any more. Skirts are getting shorter. Some are worn as high as seven Inches from the ground. There is a tendency toward simpler styles for out-of-door wear. All sorts and shapes of sailors trimmed in every conceivable fashion I are in high favor. Green still holds sway as a popular color. MASCULINE STYLES. The following from The Tailor and Cutter may interest some women and many men: The general outline of the dress coat should, in a measure, correspond with the morning coat, maintaining a I short waist and narrow skirt; a front with heavy lapel and heavy collar as is now made by some of our very high-class makers. This coat should also open well at the waist and cling closely to the waistline in the front, thus exposing the waistcoat and the linen which (by the way) is the smart est part of a gentleman's attire, and to A Style Show Full of Fascinating Interest To All Women Who Like to When you visit our store please let the Lady Demonstrator show you the West Electric Curler-Just the thing for the new Coiffure.
