The general list opened steady at an advance of six points to a decline of two points wth near months influenced by the strength of May while later deliveries showed a tendency to sag off owing to favorable weather news and realizing for over the week-end. The supreme court holds that the evi dence was fully sufficient to support the verdict and that no error of law was committed in the trial of the cases. These are the three negroes who were brought to Atlanta and tried before Judge Ben Hill of the Fulton superior court, because of fear of mob violence in Louisville, the county seat of Jef ferson. The election is proceeding very quietly and the vote up until 3 o'clock was comparatively light. It is believed that the election of Mr. H. R. Fund to he one of the commissioners is certain. The race appears to be close in « number of (he wards with Mr. Nix on and Mr. Holley favorite candidates. Mr. Timberlake is also getting a good vote In some of the wards. The polls close at 6:30. The following is the vote by wards up to 3 p. m.: First ward 381 Second ward 303 Third ward 275 Fourth ward 510 Fifth ward 466 Sixth ward 350 “BLIND TIGER*KING” GETS A SSO FINE Atlanta, Ga.—Dan Shaw, the notorious “blind tiger king.” is again ‘‘in our midst." He arrived yesterday from Chattanooga, and received by way of an official welcome a SSO fine soaked on him by the police court on a contempt charge growing out of his flight from Atlanta last year. Shaw skipped town Just after he had been summoned to appear to answer a charge of gambling. Since that time he had never returned to Atlanta, until the present. He was recognized in the carnival throng at Five Points and quickly taken into custody. “I'm mighty sorry to see you back,” said the police court Judge, “I thought the community was rid of you for good.” The SSO fine was simply for contempt in running away after receiving a court summons, Shaw is still in a cell, minus the fifty, and will be arranged toinor-- row on the old gaming charge. BLOODHOUNDS TRACKED HIM FOR ELEVEN MILES Atlanta, Ga. —After a wildly exciting chase In which bloodhounds, motorcycles and men or. foot and horseback partici pated, Sam Porter, a negro who at tacked a young white girl on the High tower road near Atlanta yesterday was run to earth and captured. The young woman, daughter of a well, known resident of that section was walking along the road when the negro seized her. She screamed, and the ne gro seeing John Bradbury approaching In a buggy, fled Into the woods. As soon ns the news of the attempted out rage was learned, posses were formed and the chase began. The negro was tracked by the bloodhounds for eleven miles through fields and woods, while men were posted on ail the bridges along the Chattahoochee river. The ne gro was completely exhausted and trembling with tetror when finally caught. County officers were in the crowd which seized him, and he was quickly taken to the county Jail.
