Washington.—Activity which began yesterday in government arsenals and at coast artillery posts follows the precautionary arrangements of the war department in the Mexican situa tion, Secretary Garrison said today. The secretary declared that no new orders had been issued to any branch of the service. “The coast artillery has been under orders to be in readiness for some time.’’ said the secretary, “It was part of our original plan to create provis ional infantry regiments from the coast artillery.” The secretary said that the work being done in government arsenals was in compliance with orders from officers directly in charge and that he had no knowledge of it. New York. —The million dollar es tate of General Hiram Durvea, who was killed on May 5 by bis son, Ches ter, Duryea, will be divided among his three children, the patricide sharing equally with his brother, Harrv H Duryea, and his sister, Mrs. Henry O.
