ALBANY BABIES WBN SECBNB
GAME OF SEBIES YESTEBDAY
The Local Aggregation Had a Terrific Rally in Their Half
of the Ninth Inning, But it Came Too Late—The Final
Score* Was 8 to 6 in Favor of the Babies—Burgess Made
a Homer.
The local aggregation of baseball
players had a terrific rally in their
half of the ninth inning yesterday but
sad to say it was just too late. The
final score was 8 to 6 in favor of the
Albany Babies.
With two men out in the ninth, Bur
gess swatted the ''pill" over the right
field fence, thereby scoring himself
and Keliy. The latter was on first,
having just previously arrived there
on a single. Clark followed later with
a three-bagger, bringing in Smith and
Mackert. Smith landed on first on a
hit to left. Mackert was walked.
Eight to Two.
The score stood eight to two in
the beginning of the ninth with two
men down (the fans, evidently think
ing the game was as good as over,
were on their feet preparing to leave).
Then the trouble started. Those who
thought that they had not received
value foßJlieir money dropped all such
foolish ideas and went wild with joy,
for the time being.
Manager Brouthers stated that the
game of this afternoon is going to the
local aggregation’s credit, and that’s
all there is to it. The Combacks are
in the best condition and are consid
ered by competent baseball authori
ties one of the best ball clubs in thd
Sallie, at least the best fighting ag- 1
gregation. Cl
Foxes Next.
After the game of this afternoon
the Babies will leave this burg for Co
lumbia, where they will play three
games with the Comers. Augusta
takes on the Foxes here Monday, Tues
day and Wednesday. These games
