Winners in Field Day Sports Yesterday Afternoon. The One Hundred Club, mounted, held Us annual field day yesterday at th# Oeorgla-Carolina Fair Grounds, and It was participated In by a large majority oT the members of the club. The program, which Included a de licious barbecue, was one of the best enjoyed ever arranged by the club. The field events, moat all of which take place on horseback, are out of the ordinary; they are something un usual for this city, and every year are witnessed by a good crowd. Probably the most amusing con test of them all was the thread and needle race. In which the participants are given a piece of thread and an ordinary sewing needle and a horse. The first rider riding to a certain point several yards away, threading the needle and Hewing to his clothea a RmaJl piece of cloth and returning to the starting point first la adjudged • lie winner iind awarded the prize. This race yesterday wag won by Mr. Albert Uilßhton, who was given a fine pair of saddle blankets. Potato Race. A beautiful acarT pin was given as the prize to Mr. Bd. Atkins, who won the potato race, In which some extra clever huurttemmighLp was exhibited. Mr. L. B. Hatcher won the prize, a handsome pair of cuff buttons, In the lance toursnament, or rkllng ring race In thin event the wlnnnr Is the con testant who makes the greatest run, gathering the largest number of rings, In the shortest time The rings are placed sixty feet apart Mr. Hatcher got tnree rings in g 1-4 seconds. In the 150-yard foot race there were two events. Dr. Roper won the prize, n pair of puttees, in the lightweight dash, and Mr. Chus. Whitney won the prize, a riding crop, in the heavy weight event. President’s Cup. The president's cup, the prize of fered in the pistol shooting from horseback, was won by Mr. H. K. Lowery. The prize for the best all-round showing In all events, offered by Mr, It. C. lierckmans, was awarded to Mr. Ed Atkins. The stanftlng rifle shoot contest was won by Mr Battey Buck, who was awarded a fine saddle blanket. After the contests the ’cue was served. The resignation of Mr. Boykin Wright, the president, was accepted with .much regret by the members of the club. Judge Henry C. Hammond was elected to succeed Mr. Wright.
