WEDNESDAY, MAY 27, VILLA IS READY FOR ZACATECAS Rebel General’s Forces Being Rushed From Saltillo to Tor reon For Attack. El Paso, Texas. —Reports from the south today said that General Villa's forces . were making haste in prepa rations for an assault on Zacatecas City, capital of Zacatecas state. It was asserted that the railroad from Tor reon. Villa's concentration point, had h«en repaired nearly to the next point of attack. Already troops in large numbers had been sent south and all possible re inforcements have been rushed into Torreon from Saltillo. The latest to arrive was the command of Gen. Pablo Robles, numbering 3,500. originally left to garrison Saltillo. Although Gen. Villa has maintained characteristic silence, constitutionalist officials here expressed the belief that Zacatecas unquestionably would be the next objective point. It was ex plained that the attack on San I.uis Potosi, had been postponed because of the destruction of the railroad to the south of Saltillo, while the movement by train against Zacatecas was quick er and easier. TAPPER EACH BBT OF TURPS Testimony Brought Out at Second Day’s Trial of the Naval Stores “Trust.” Savannah, Ga.—The second day’s trial of the case against the alleged naval stores trust began in the Unit ed States court this morning. The taking of testimony was continued. All of the defendants, Messrs. Edmund S. Nash, J. F. C. Myers, S. P. Shotler and Carl Moeller, were in court and there was the keenest interest in the testimony among those in the audi ence. •• Mr. Thomas S. Purse, secretary of the Savannah Board of Trade, gave testimony relative to the method em ployed by that organization in keep ing the records of the naval stores business. He quoted from the records to show the receipts and exports of naval stores at Savannah. Mr. John F. Glatigny, former state naval stores inspector, tetsified to inspections he had made in Savannah for the Amer ican Naval Stores Company in 1908. He was a daily visitor at the yards of the company here and never de tected any fraud, he said. Interesting Witness. WilliaiU H. A Blood Disease and Can Easily be Cured by Using A Remarkable Remedy The general prevalence of rheuma tism hereabouts disproves the theory that the disease is confined to cold, damp climates. The remedy to quickly You Can Ea.llr Drive Rhrumatlam overcome rheumatism Is our own well known Georgia medicine, the famous blood purifier, 8. S. S. Its action Is quite remarkable. Myra, Ky.—Mrs. Sarah Branham, of this town, gives out the following statement for publication: “I am 37 years of age, and suffered untold agony with womanly troubles for 11 years. For 7 years, I was all run oown, and was told that I could not live. My husband spent everything he had, but I got only temporary re lief. A merchant recommended Cardui, the woman’s tonic, to my husband, and he got me 5 bottles at one time. I began taking it, and before the first bottle was gone, I began to feel better. I took all of the five bottles, and I am today as sound and well as any woman, and fat and hearty.” SUch testimony as the above, which is given unsolicited, speaks for itself. Can t you see, lady reader, that you are doing yourself, your family, your friends, an injustice by not, at least, triing Cardui, if you suffer from any of the many ailments so common to women? Cardui is composed of pure, harm less, vegetable ingredients, which act in a gentle, natural way on the weak ened womanly organs, helping build them back to permanent strength and health. Cardui has helped thousands of other women. Why not you? Ask your druggist. He knows about Cardui. morning:. He was employed by the National Transportation and Terminal Company in Jacksonville in 1908. This company was a subsidiary of the Am erican. Haskins said it was a prac tice of the company by whom he was employed to remove from a half to a gallon of spirits from each barrel af ter it had been inspected. In this way the company gained from 250 to 900 extra barrels a month. Judge Samuel B. Adams, attorney for the defendant company, brought from the witness ihe information that he had been discharged by the com pany. Haskins said he had been dis charged because of a difference with another employe over the failure of the latter to repay some money he had borrowed from Haskins and another employe of the company. I.ast night and this morning the Baraca delegates were leaving Augusta for their homes in all parts of the state, alter having passed one of the most successful conventions of the state association on record. The del egates did not leave before asking that the Augusta Baraca union he publicly thanked for the royal entertainment given them while here. Many of the Baracas here stated that they had never enjoyed themselves at any con vention more than they did here. $3,000 in Five Minutes. A strong feature of yesterday's bus iness transacted at the convention, in session in the Sunday school rooms of the Bt. John Methodist church, was the raising of over three thousand dol lars in less than six minutes, with which to supply a salary for the state secretary. The idea originated after the de lightful barbecue given at the Lake Monday afternoon, and the originutors were Messrs. Bryson Crane, John Phinizy, both of tills city; Mr. O. A. Love, of Macon, and Miss Flossie Byrd, the field secretary for the state asso ciation of North Carolina, said to tie the most flourishing association in the country. It is understood that in pro portion to size there are probably more Baracas in North Carolina than in any other state. Thorough Harmony. Practically half of the subscribed amount was raised equally among the unions of Augusta, Macon and Colum bus. All of the representatives of the Baraca unions In the state were in ac cord with the spirit to have a paid sec sc etary. It is the intention of the association now to estabilshe a bureau in Macon with Mr. C. C. Mr, Teague has endeared him self to Baraca work. He bears the reputation of being a competent sec retary. His re-election was unani imous. Probably Rom# Next Year. A special meeting of the executive committee of the Georgia Baraca As sociation was held yesterday afternoon late at which It was decided that the 1915 convention of the association would go to Home, Ga., provided the Invitation issued by the Baraca Asso ciation for the Phllathea Association of Georgia to meet with them was not accepted. In case the Invitation Is accepted, as far as the Baracan are concerned the convention will still go to Home. However, the Phllattieas will be given a say so and in this event the place will be left to the executive committees of the two associations, respectively. If the Phllathea and Baraca Asso ciations of Georgia merge Into one permanent association the convention will naturally tie held together. Be Decided Next Month.
