New York.—A thriving business in New York and other eastern cities is said to have been disclosed by inves tigation of alleged baseball pools by assistants and detectives of the office of District Attorney Chas. S. Whit man. That such an investigation was in progress became known today when some of the methods of the so-called "Baseball News Information Bureaus" were made public.
