CITY BARACA UNION
MEETING LAST NIGHT
Adopted Resolution Thanking
Press and Others Helping to
Make Recent State Conven
tion Here Success.
x
The regular monthly meeting of the
Augusta Baraca Union was held at
Curtis Baptist church last night at
8:30. Reports were received from the
various departments, also from the
committee on the state convention
which convened in Augusta May 24th
to 26th.
The meeting last night adopted a
resolution of thanks expressing
appreciation of the help given by the
different parties; first to the press of
the city, the Augusta Herald and Au
gusta Chronicle for their kindness in
giving so much space and publicity to
the metings of the convention; to the
First Presbyterian and St. John
churches for the use of the buildings in
which to hid meetings; to the Y. M. C.
A. for the use of that building as head
quarters, to all who so kindly furnish
ed their automobiles to the covention
committee for use in entertaining the
delegates, and last but not least to all
who opened their homes to the enter
tainment of the delegates.
The attendance banner was awarded
last night to the Curtis Baptist Ba
raca Class for one month. This class
say they will endeavor to hold it for the
remainder of the year, but this
probable as It Is hotly contested for at
every monthly meeting.
The next meeting will be held Joint
ly with the Phllathea Union at First
Baptist church, on July 14th, and will
be a social meeting.
At the Casino
Patrons of the Lake View Casino
enjoyed the second night’s performan
ces last night of “Little Miss Nobody,’’
and again tonight it is expected that
the theater will be crowded to see the
last of "Little Miss Nobody."
Tonight is the biggest night of the
week. It is “Amateur Night.” Several
people of the city have given their
names in at the box office, anonuncing
that they would enter the show for
tonight, and compete for the thres
cash prizes of $5, $3 and sl. A great
deal of local interest is centered in
the amateur part of the program this
evening because of the local people
engaged.
