THE JEWELERS,
THE AUGUSTA HERALD, AUGUSTA, GA.
a wave of crime that was then pass
ing over the community.
Miss Kathleen Doolan, of Savan
nah, one of the graduates of Kt.
Joseph’s Friday afternoon, ha* rrade
so many friends while attending
college here. Many of them were
won by her own sweetness and
charm and many others come by
right of Inheritance. Her mother,
pleasantly-remembered In the name
of her girlhood as Allss Mamie
O’Donnell, and her grandmother,
Mrs. Kate O’Donnell, although they
have been residents of Savannah
ever since Mr*. Doolan’s marriage
to Mr. James Doolan caused her re
moval from here, have yet kept In
touch with Augusta and things Au
gustan. Mrs. Doolan came up for
the graduation exercises of her
daughter, who is an unusually
bright and charming young girl, and
while It Is almost too soon to speak
of It, there is still a persistent lit
tle rumor that Miss Doolan will ul
timately be claimed as an Augustan.
Friends of a very popular and pro
ficient young professional man in
Augusta are already beginning to
congratulate him on the successful
wooing of a charming young woman
who has spent the last winter and
spring In Augusta but who is now
home for the vacation season. While
nothing has yet been given out, not
even to friends, it is pretty gene
rally understood that the young wo
man In question will probably re
turn to Augusta In the fall under
different circumstances than /hose
under which she left. r
Little Misses Luclle and Atargaret
Sheron, the two pretty young daugh
ters of Mr and Airs. P. J. Sheron,
demonstrated at the recent closing
exercises at Sacred Heart College
that their lovely little heads are
quite as attractive on the Inside as
out, they having secured the high
est honors in all their studies.
The announcement of the ap
proaching marriage of Mis* Evelyn
Denning and Air. Rcrt Dales will
call forth numerous and cordlfcl con
gratulations from this popular young
couple. The marriage will take place
at six-thirty in the morning, June
24th, at St. Paul’s, and Immediately
afterwards the young couple will
leave for New York and other points
until the seventh of July, when they,
accompanied by Miss Avis Dales,
"ill sail from Boston for Europe. A
very extended and charming Itine
rary has been mapped out for the
summer. Part of the time will be
spent with Mr. Dales’ grandfather
in Londonderry, Ireland, and a
month will be put in in Scotland.
There will bo several weeks spent
In England, where Miss Denning’s
mother’s people are, and several
house parties are being planned in
their honor. Alias Denning is a very
charming and most attractive young
woman, with a dainty wlnsonieness
that Is most typically southern. That
she will win the hearts of all who
meet her Is n foregone conclusion.
Air. Dales is the older son of Mrs.
iHtles and is a splendid young man
If every way. The marriage Ib the
culmination of a romance that has
been op for several years and
which reaches Its happy climax now.
• hat the groom has atained his ma
jority and his fortune.
Augustans who remember a most
unfortunate accident which occurred
six or seven years ago which re
sulted in a young boy, Walter Mc-
Donald, losing the sight of both of
ht» eyes, will feel interested In
learning that this young hoy, now a
man, has been graduated from the
law school of the University of Geor
gia and will about July first estab
lish a law office In Augusta and
practice his profession. Mr. Mc-
Donald will have asst elated wi'li
him Mr. Adams of Marietta, Ga. The
wonderful strides that this young
man has made with such a terrific
handicap should be an inspiration to
others. For three or four years after
the accident ho was kept at school
and tho habit of study Inculcated.
Later lie hecamg imbued with the
Idea that he would study law, and
having a bright retentive mind he
absorbed all that was read to him
and retained tt as easily. The loss
Of his sight seemed to have Inten
sified ills other faculties and today
h' l knows probably ns much about
law as any young law student who
Is in the full possession of all his
faculties. In fact, not being able to
see lias probably brought him in
closer touch with some things, and
as lookers on see most of the game
paradoxically, tho loss of his sight
may possibly rause Mr. McDonald
to feel and grasp things that would
In others pass unnoticed.
An Interesting event of Wednes
day morning will be the marriage
of Miss Kate Mulcsy and Mr. Ed
ward Bryson, which will take place
at seven o'clock, at Broadway Meth
odist church. The ceremony will he
performed by the old pastor of tho
bride. Rev. H. M. Qullllan. of Col
lege Park, and the bride and groom
will be attended by Miss Amin Qull
llan, of College Fark, and Dr. Cal
houn. Mr Foster Sego and Dr Ed
ward A\ . Clarke will be the ushers
Ttie bride will wear a coat suit of
blue and immediately after the cere
mony the young couple will leave
for an extended trip, visiting Detroit,
Buffalo and other points of Interest
On their return they will at once go
to housekeeping In their own pretty
bungalow home, 731 Moore avenue,
which Is all ready for them, com
pletely furnished. Among the pretty
entertainments given for Miss Mul*
cay was a miscellaneous shower
Wednesday afternoon given by Mrs.
Alfred Davis and Mrs. Dessle Mil
ler, amt a kitchen shower jester
day with Miss Gretchen Bredenberg
as hostess.
The marriage of Miss Evelyn
Dens, the very pretty young daugh
ter of Dr. and Mrs. A. J. Dons, and
Mr. James Todd Harwell, of At
lanta, Is announced for the morning
of Tuesday June thirtieth at nine
o'clock at the family residence on
upper Greene street, a pretty home
affair with a reception following the
ceremony. Daisies will be the flow -
er used In the decorations of the
house and will be prettily featured
on the bride's table Miss' Deas will
make a lovely bride with her t>eau
tlful coloring, her dark hair and eyes
and perfect complexion and the wed
ding party, while not a large one.
will be one of the prettiest of any
of the summer.
