President Kalbfleisch Says Augusta Being Treated Unfairly Will Shaw play in this afternoon’s name? There’s going to be trouble If he does not. President Kalbfleisch said today: “The Augusta club is already slight ly crippled in the manner of Berger being out of the game, and on top of till of this ‘crippled stuff President Nick Corish attempts to cripple it more by branding Shaw ineligible. Not only iH Ihls use of his authority un fair to the Augusta club but is as well unfair to Charleston, for the-Sea Gulls are but a. couple of games In the rear of the league leaders. It Is a well-known fact that' Corish has no ■good reason’ for keeping Shaw out of the game, in fact, there’s none what ever Of course, Shaw made, a little more money last season than is al lowed by ‘Hallle salary limit,’ hut he does not make it now, and as for be ing too high salaried last year to play In this league this year—well, there were allowances made, just for such a purpose as this one. He Gets a Shock in the Pocketbook “The Columbia club having pur chased the contract of Player Eberts without knowledge of his last season’s salary, asked consent of the league to retain this player. The president was Instructed to declare this one player eligible in the event It was found that his previous salary would have pre vented his use by the club, provided, of course, that his present salary was within the prescribed limit. “The same authority was granted the president in favor of the Augusta club —the rule being waived In these particular cases to aid the two new clubs. “As one will gather from the above, its simply an injustice being handed the local baseball people—and hand ed them for a reason, and the reason is plain—someone evidently wants Sa vannah to walk off with the honors of that first half." In the event Shaw is not allowed to play today the case will be appealed by the local club.
