Resolutions.
Resolutions of thinks to the city and
to the Red Men’s Tribes of Augusta for

session In which a great deal of inter
est was taken, was the special presenta
tion of a Bast Great. Sachem's Jewel to
the retiring Great Sachem of the Great
Council of this state, (’has. F. Htroberg.
The Jewel Is very elaborate and Is worn
ori the lapel of the coat.
The presentation speech was made hv
Grand Master \V. I). Sloan, of the Odd
Bellows, who is chairman of the hoard of
appeals of the Bed Men of this state, and
the remark* were wholly in harmony
with the good spirit that reigned over
the Red Men present. Mr. Htroberg re
sponded In a brief but touching manner,
In which he expressed his gratitude for
the honor shown him.
Jefferies Spoke.
Hon. Thos. II Jefferies, of Atlanta,
representative of the Great Incohonee,
the chief of the order, presented greet
ings from the Great Council of the
United Stales. Tls address was well re
ceived.
The next meeting of the Great Council
of the United States will be held at
Portland, Me., next September, and Mr.
Htroberg who was elected yesterday as
the Great Representative of the Red Men
in this state, will go officially from
Georgia. Others who will go from Geor
gia will he Messrs. C. C. Glllett; Atlanta;
L If. Chappell, Columbus, and 11. M.
Ward, of Savannah.
The officers elected yesterday were
formally Installed this morning.
The parade last night, which was a
brilliant special le with Its hundreds of
flaming red torches, was a big event of
the Session and was witnessed by many
people on Broad street between 8 and 0
o'clock.
