who is visiting Miss Marie Beaufort,
was the guest of honor at a delight
ful afternoon party at which were
present the following guests: Miss
Louise llankinson. Miss Ruth Rrawn
er, Miss Claire (Hover, Miss Francis
Crook. Miss Kites belli Clover, Miss
Camilla Danforth, Miss Eliza beth
Law, Miss Edith Marks, Miss Mary
Blcaklcy, Miss Lueile Sheron. Miss
Emily Weakley, Miss Eva Danforlh,
and Miss Elizabeth .Milligan.
The large double parlors given over
to. the guests were beautifully adorned
with hundreds of shasta daisies and
the daisy Idea was cleverly (areled
out in the unique floral contest eii
gaged in by the guests. Miss Elizabeth
Clover secured the first prize, an ex
quisite lace collar, and the guest of
honor was presented with a dainty
little fan. After the game an ice,
course ras served and delightful mu
sic enjoyed.
Miss Beaufort received her guests
wearing a white lace gown over blue
silk with touches of pink Sllss Bar
din wore a lovely gown of corn col
ored crepe do chine with an overdress
of shadow lace finished with touches
of 'black velvet.
MARRIAGE OF MISS RANSEY
AND MR. M. S. LAWTON.
The most cordial interest of count
less friends was centered in the early"
morning marriage, today of Miss Annie
Mai "lansey, second daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. John Itansey, and Mr. Mal
colm Ktoney Lawton of Allendale, S.
('., which occurred at seven W clock
at tin Itansey home In North Au
gusta. The coremony. which was per
formed hy Rev. B. li. Waugh of the
North Augusta Baptist church, being
attended by tile family connections
and a few close friends only, owing to
the mourning of the bride's family.
The parlors were very effective with
house plants and many summer blos
soms and tile scene was one of quiet
beauty. There were no attendautsand
the bride and groom entered together.
The bride, who is a young woman
of unusual beauty, with a svelte,
graceful figure, wore a traveling suit
■ f reseda green, worn with a blouse
of embroidered llesli colored chiffon,
and a smart black hal. Her flowers
were bride roses, a superb armful.

lon is a splendid representative of one
of South Carolina's oldest and best
known families and is very pleasantly
known here where he has frequently
visited.

dance as she had planned to do.

The meeting of the local chapter
of Child Life, which was to have hern
hold yesterday afternoon at five o'clock
at the Tubman, was postponed on ac
count of the weather, and will be held

JEFF CURRY SECURES LOVING
CUP.
Mr. Inman Curry, accompanied by
his handsome son, Jeff, have returned
from Virginia, where they went to De
present at the commencement exercises
and meeting of the alumni of the Uni
versity of Virginia, of which Mr. Cur
ry is a member.
In pursuance with a custom of the
University of Virginia, at their class
reunions, u handsome silver loving
cup Is presented to the oldest son of
the class graduate. At this reunion,
the first of Mr. Curry's class, the class
of 1»06, the eldest son is his son, Jef
ferson Curry, and he was presented
with the cup, the presentation being
made by Hon. Oscar Underwood, who
is also a graduate of the University of
Virginia.

In announcing the prize winners at
the recent Sacred Heart commence
ment exercises, the prize for attend
ance was announced as presented to
Miss Mary Ward. The announcement
should have read, Miss Catherine Con
nor. Miss Ward and Miss Connor tied
for the attendance isflze and in the
draws, it was secured by Miss Connor,

At the meeting yesterday of the
Thursday Cotelre, which was enter
tained yesterday by Mrs. Ulrich Olof
son, the prize, a lovely picture, was
presented to Mrs. Burkhalter. The
Misses Payton, of Chattanooga, who
were out of town guests at the club,
were presented with stlk stockings
and hose as souvenirs of the afternoon.
At the conclusion of the game of five
hundred, afternoon tea was served.
