Dodson’s Liver Tone
For Constipation.
Dodson’s Liver Tone was made to
take the place of calomel.
Calomel is a form of mercury, a
mineral and a poison. Dodson’s Liver
Tone is an all-vegetable liquid—never
harmful.
What calomel does unpleasantly and
often with danger for constipation and
sluggish liver, Dodson's Liver Tone
does for you safely and pleasantly,
with no pain and no gripe. It does not
interfere in any way with your regular
business, habits or diet. You feel good
after taking it.

might watch Yale and Harvard stage
theif Tth annual regatta on the River
Thames.
Harvard was the top-heavy favorite
in the little betting that took place.
Harvard’s backers came to town with
tons of money, willing to bet it on the
Crimson crew at almost any odds, but
the Elis would have very little of it, at
straightaway bets on the result of the
races. .
Harvard's crews this year looked bet
ter on paper than those of last year
which simply ran away with the Yale
outfits, while the Ells orews of this
year, juflged by their records to date
are no better, if as good, as the 1913
outfits which went down to such an in
glorious defeat.
There was perhaps less betting on the
outcome of today's river battles than
ever has characterized a similar meeting
between the rival universities. In other
years the old grads” of Eli, no matter

Dodsbn’a Liver Tone was intended
from the start to take the Place of

ways has said so, beginning with the
first bottle sold.

how hopeless seemed the chances of the
Yale crews, always backed them with a
little lucre. But the Yale graduates,
disgusted by the shifts made in the
rowing system in the past two years,
refused today to risk any of their mon
ey on the faint chance that Yale had for
victory.
By Three or More.
However, the Harvard backers were
able to get a few bets with Yale men by
offering odds that the Crimson varsity
crew would defeat Yale by three or more
lengths, and that the Crimson freshmen
eights would beat the Yale freshmen by
at least two lengths.
Of course, most of the interest cen
tered in the varsiety race which was
scheduled for 4:49 this afternoon, but a
big crowd rode in the observation trains
or sat on the hillsides and watched the
lYeshmen race which was held at 10:45
in the morning.
Members of both crews reported to
their coaches early in the morning in
good condition. They took a short work
out on the river in the morning for the
purpose of limbering up their muscles.
The one thing that Yale supporters
feared most of all was the different
styles of rowing that have been taught
the men in the past three years might
bring about a real confusion in a criti
t il moment. Some of the men in the
shell were originally taught the old Bob
Cook stroke. Others learned the straight
English stroke that Yale tried last year,
while the new-comers this year have
been drilled in the 1914 stroke which has
been taught them by Coach Nickalls.
Three Kinds.
Of course the Yale crew this year is
rowing only the stroke that Nickalls and
his associates have taught them, but it
is feared that if the Yale crew' should be
able to keep within striking distance of
the Harvard outfit until near the finish
line, they may unconsciously go back to
the style of rowing that they first learn
ed when called upon for a final spurt,
and that In this way, the crew will be
pulling three diferent kinds of strokes.
Although the largest portion of the
crowd came to town this morning on
special trains over the New Haven r&il
road or.via automobile several thousand
arrived last night, packing New Lon
don’s few hotels and rooming houses.
Part of the overflow was accommodated
in the private homes of some towns
people. while the rest passed up sleep
altogether and spent the night and the
early mornig hours “Whooping things
up” for their Alma Mater.
There was mighty lttle sleep In this
town last night except for those in the |
somewhat distant section of tho city, but
New London stages a boat race only
once a year and it ‘doesn’t seem to gea
very much peeved when the 'old grads’
become young again, make so much
racket in the town that sleep is impos
sible. H
Huncgy Horde.
New London has enough restaurants
to normally accommodate its population
of 22,‘d00 or so. but it could not despite
extensive preparations accommodate all
of the hungry horde that swept down
upon the town shortly before the noon
hour.
This forced thousands of visitors to
choose between going hungry or patron
izing the fruit stands and laying in a
supply of fruit to partially satisfy the
inner man until such time as they could
get back to towns where the restaurants
were more numerous and crowds fewer.
Yale and Harvard were tied In var
sity eight-oared victories up to today.
Since the regatta was inaugurated in
1855 the rival crews have met 46 times,
Yale and Harvard each garnering -3 vic
tories. Yale's last victory was in 1907.
In the stx years since then Harvard has
been victorious by fairly wide margins.
