TWO Installation of Federation of Trades Officers on Wednesday Several Matters of Great Importance to Pe Taken Up at the Meeting of Augusta Federation—Federation Now Com posed of 31 Affiliated Organizations. At the regular meeting of the Augus ta Federation of Trades on Wednes day night of this week thereare sev eral matters'of extreme Importance to be disposed of, pnd a full attend ance is particularly urged. The meeting will promptly at ft o'clock. Besides the other business to he dis posed of, the Installation of oflcers will occur. The following are the officers elected at the last meeting: J. C. Harrison, President. R G. Smith, Vice-President. Frank Wright, Recording Hecere tary. C. McDaniel, Financial Secretary. A. A. Kvans, It. 11. Daniels and .1. 11. The Augusta Federation of Trades ts at present composed of .'ll affili ated 'organizations, each organization having flv* delegates. It hus a regu lar attendance of 126 approximately and meets every first, third and fifth Wednesdays, p. m. The central body lias been Increasing ever since the Federation was instituted, and It Is expected as many as one dozen other organization will Join the Federation before the close of year In order that the public may know what tho Federation Is doing, mention la made of some of our standing com mittee* and their duties. It has a committee known as the Organization Will Southern Raise Trestle or Will Gates Be Built at Sixth Street ? "This place, sir, is the Herald's Mer chants and Manufacturers’ label sav ing contest headquarters.” "Oh, yes,” said the visitor, "but what Is the na ture of the contest?” It is simply an advertising feature," was the mana ger's reply, “The Augusta Herald Is offering $2000.00 in cash and prizes to Organizations, Individuals and Chil dren for simply saving labels from well known manufactured products and merchants sales slips without the ex pense of a penny on the part of the contestants.” "Do you mean to say the Herald is giving $2,000.00 to those who secure the highest number of votes by simply saving and merchants sales-slips?” "That ts it, exactly, sir.” "Well that accounts for my wood house being filled with labels, tin cans and car toons. I’ll bet my wife is gathering these things up for some organization. For she undoubtedly has enough of this junk to Justify a. drayman charg ing $4 50 lo deliver them. Now I cer tainly appreciate this contest for sev ers] reasons. Before thiH contest start ted we had a cook and house-girl and my wife never went any place. Now we have neither cook or house girl and my wife is never at home only long enough to prepare meals and do house work. Your contest has not only re duced expenses, but has gotten my wife In the habit of going out and gel ting exercise, consequently, she is en joying better health."
