GEORGIA CHILD LABOR MEASURE House Committee Favorably Reports Bill Drawn By Na tional Labor Committee. Atlanta.- The child labor bill drawn by the National Labor committee and accepted i»y Representative Sheppard, «»f Hu inter county, as a substitute for his hill introduced last year and brought over as unfinished business to jthe present session, was indorsed by the labor and labor statistics commit tee of the house of representatives Tuesday afternoon at the close of a hearing which lasted more than two ! hours. YVier, of Atlanta, rep resenting state federation, by Hooper Alexander, of Decatur, for mer member of the bouse of represen tatives and anther of child labor bills in 1911 and 1912, and by Herschei Jones, member of the national child labor committee. The Sheppard substitute bill pro hibits the employment of children un der fourteen years of age in factories, stores and as messengers. It prohibits the employment of chil dren under sixteen years of age who are unable to write legibly and read simple English sentences. Sworn certificates as to the age and literacy of children are to be fur nished by the superintendent of schools in the county where the child is employ ed. The vote on the resolution was 100 for and against. The delate on the rule oerupled all of the day's session except the thirty minutes of unanimous con sent for the introduction of new mat ter.
