Southern Inter-Collegiate Ath
letic Association to Consider
Objections to Some of Its
Rules.
Atlanta, Ga. Resolutions requesting
President W. M. Riggs and the executive
committee of the Southern Inter-Col-
Icglate Athletic Association to call a
meeting of the association In Atlanta on
July 18th to consider objections of some
of the members of the organization to
certain of its rules, were adopted at a
meeting of representatives of sevf-n col
leges here yesterday. The question
of summer baseball also was consider
it, yesterday's meeting hut no definite
action was taken.
The resolutions Adopted awked that
the proposed meeting of the association

to members of athletic teams; that the 1
present one-year rule, as adopted at the
last annual meeting of the association, ;

Yesterday's meeting was called at the
instance of the athletic authorities ot i
Vanderbilt University. The Nashville
school recently declared its intention oJ j
withdrawing from the association be
cause of alleged hardships workod l»y the
rules The meeting was attended by;

gls; the Georgia School of Technology;'
University of Alabama; Vanderbilt Unl-|
verity; University of the South (Kewa-i
nee); Auburn and Ulemson College. I
The meeting was presided over by Dr.
George H. Denny of the University of
Alabama. At the close of the ssesion an
executive© committee composed of Jiughi
M. Gordon, Jr . of Georgia; Dr. J. ifi.
Crenshaw, of Georgia Technology and
Dr. Denny, was appointed to complete
the Work started at the meeting.
Call Meeting.
Charles G. Trobue. who represented
Vanderbilt University, which recently
withdrew from the n. !. A. A. because
of dissatisfaction «Vf* the one-veer rule
and other regulations of the association,
did not vote at the meeting. He said
he had no authority to commit Vander
bilt to any course of action and that such
matters would have to be put up to the
authorities of the university. Thomas
Hragg, who represented Auburn, and J
W. Gantt, of Ofemson. both declined the
vote on the same grounds.
The Vanderbilt authcfrlte* recently re
quested President Riggs of the associa
tion to call a meeting of representatives
of the various membets. Riggs replied
that he had no authority to call su. h a ;
meeting. w
The meeting was called by Hugh M
Gordon. Jr., secretary of the athletic
hoard of Georgia University.
