Body of Calvin Glover Dis
covered After Life Had Been
Extinct For Probibly Over 24
Hours.
Calvin Glover, an employe of the
Augusta Factory, was found dead in a
chair yesterday afternoon at 4:16 in
the dining room of hts house, 1128
• ’oggins street. Mr. T. W. Bailie, who
lives In the same house and was a
friend of Mr. Glover's, found the body,
which had apparently been there
inrec noon the day before, Tuesday.
It was learned from Mr. Bailie and
others that Mr. Glover had been in
bad health for several days, but had
been unable to go to his work as usual.
<>n Tuesday n orning he went to the
mill, and at the lunch hour went back
to his house, stopping on the way to
get some bread from relatives. After
that, he was not seen until Wednesday
afternoon when Mr. Bailey, having
missed him from his work and won
dering what was the matter with him,
went to look for him In nls room.
He saw Mr. Glover sitting In a chair
and went up to him. calling him by
name. Getting no response, he shook
11 he dead man by the shoulder to wake
him up, as he thought. "Hey," he said,
"What are you doing asleep at this
•line of day?"
The body was taken to R. E. El
liott's undertaking ustublishment,
I where, in the private chapel, the fun
eral was held this morning at 10
o'clock. The service was conducted
by the Rev. A. D. Echols, of the As
bury Methodist church, and the inter
ment was in the city cemetery.
Messrs. Thornton Waters, R. 1,. Hague,
K. H. Harveston, O. 1.. Hague, Wal
ter Burwell and Palmer Reckum were
all-bearers
Deceased is survived by his wife.
Mrs Fannie Glover, who was on a
visit to the country at the time of his
death.
SUMMER CHANGE? AT THE
GEORGIA R. R. OFFICES
Announcement Is made of the res
ignation of Mr. J. J Conway, store
keeper of the Georgia Railroad at Au
guste He is succeeded by Mr. R. C.
Grown. The change went into effect
yesterday.
In addition to acting as storekeeper,
Mr. Brown will he clerk and assistant
chief of motive power. Owing to the
summer dullness the office of store
keeper was abolished and also several
of the clerks were suspended.
The offices of the superintendent,
fuel agent and road master were mov
ed from the first floor to the second
floor of the building, that they might
he on the same floor with the chief
dispatcher. The superintendent’s old
offices on the first floor will he occu
pied by the general manager and chief
| clerk and the purchasing agent.
