lum bU, while Charleston moved
t ,°' n a tie for third into first posi
tion. Columbus lost three straight
t ,ames to Charieston and two out of
three to Columbia. Charleston had a
eioan record for the week, winning all
lour games played.
The holiday business of the league
“ lu ’f a blow Saturday, when rain
prevented both of the scheduled games
between Charleston and Macon nt
harleston from being played. At
o her points on the circuit, however,
' h) teams performed in both of their
1 ourtli of July engagements before
good crowds.
I o make a place of the schedule
tor Hie Fourth of July games, only two
games were scheduled on Thursday
and l'liday. Savannah and Albany
and Jacksonville and Augusta played
hursday and Charleston and Macon
and Columbus and Columbia Friday.
I he Jacksor’ ille team has been un

r Out of the blue sky the Macon
r J igens descended on Augusta this
morning and immediately started to
wandering around the city in search
ol' amusement in order to pass Ihe
time away until the game was called
this at£°”noon. The Tigers have
been ouc.Vf the game since last
Thursday (they having no game
scheduled for this day, the following
day it rained and therefore a douhle
faeader was also spoiled) and are now
only too glad tc get into the game
again, for the “ola life" is fascinat
ing.
The local aggregation also floated
into Augusta. The team arriving last
night with the exception of its pilot,
Manager Brouthers, who arrived this
morning. "Babe’’ loft for Charleston

Burgess is exipected to join the club
some time this week. The pitching
staff is expected to be slightly chang
-11 (it has not been stated as yet, but,
however, there will be a change, and
for the best at that.)
The club could not be in better
shape than now and there's no reason
that the bunch should not climb the
ladder and elimb In a hurry at that.
As has been stated before a little
rooting is all that is needed, and it
this is Ue only thing—why let's con
tribute.
