How Uncle Sam Saves
Thousands of Lives
■\ *
Depends Upon the Hot Springs of Arkansas to Cure His
Soldiers, Sailors and Citizens.
Many years apro, when Thomas Jef
ferson was President, the U. S. Govern
ment a Tokened to the fact that the Hot
Springs of Arkansas was the most valu
able asset In America for the curing of
human ailments. So all of these springs
were set aside and became a park re
serve. under the direct control and su
pervision of the Government.
It is beyond comprehension the thou
sands upon thousands of lives that have
since been saved through the healing
powers of these springs.
The waters aer so charged with radium
—known technically as radio-activity—
that they accomplish results in the cure
of disease that would under other treat
ment be considered Impossible.
The aliments that most readily yield
to these baths are Rheumatism, Gout,
Neuralgia. Malaria, Locomotor Ataxia
(earlier stages), Bright’s Disease (when
not too far advanced), Liver and Bladder
troubles. Catarrhal troubles. Skin and
Blood diseases, troubles peculiar to wo
men. and other troubles of a nature kin
dred to those above mentioned.
Regarding these springs as America's
greatest gift to the sick, the Govern
ment has never allowed them to be ex
p’olted for private gain. The prices
charged for the baths are strictly regu
lated—hotel charges are extremely low,
and every consideration Is afforded the
visitor.
The city of Hot Springs !s one of the
most delightful resorts to be found any
where in the world, and its visitors are
by no means confined to those seeking
sealth.

Atlanta.—The senate indulged in
long and eloquent debate Thursday as
to whether the solicitors general of
Georgia should be taken off of a fee
basis and placed upon a salary basis,
and passed the bill.
The proposal was submitted to the
Senate by Mr. Harrall, and, after it
came up Thursday, an effort was
made to postpone it until next Tues
day. This was turned dow n by a big
vote. The bill is in the form of a
constitutional amendment, and requir
ed a tw’o-thlrds vote. The vote was
82 to 5.
The measure places solicitors on a
salary of $3,000 per year, and cuts out
all other forms of compensation, ex
cept on cases appealed. It was cham
pioned by Senators Harrell and Mc-

After Senator McGregor had con

resolution of censure directed against
Prof. Otis Ashmore, of Savannah for
criticising Messrs. Allen and Mc-

confidence to the senators concerned.
