SNYDER SETTLED DOWN AND
v WON FINAL GAME YESTERDAY
Combacks Captured Last Game of the Macon Series By Score
of 6 to I—Macon’s Twirler Was Landed on For 13 Hits.
He Was Also Accorded Poor Support. “Run-Producer”
Burgess Featured.
Macon.—The Augusta Combacks
captured the final game of the series
in the city yesterday afternoon from
the Tigers by landing on Martin for
thirteen hits, the score being 6 to 1.
Martin was also accorded poor sup
port, five costly errors being made
behind him. The Augusta bunch
pulled off three freak two-baggers in
the first inning. Matthews, center
fielder for the Tigers, retired from
the game in the seventh Inning yester
day, missing the first inning of bail
in the past four years.
Burgess, Augusta's right fielder, was
the original slugger in the game. Out
"f five times at bat he connected with
the pill four times and managed to
score twice. Smith, also with the
visitors, was the only player inßrouth
ers’ outfit that did not register a hit.
Started Bad.
Snyder started tile game off in the
same manner in which Winchell did
in Tuesday’s game, but, however, good
backing-up by his mates held the lo
cals down to one run. After this in
ning the visiting pitcher settled down
and pitched a good article of ball. Kel
ly was ts-■ life of the team, though
not getting but two hits out of four
times at bat he scored both times with
ithe aid of sensational baserunning
’coupled with base-stealing. Two er
rors were made by the visitors, one bv
Wallace, who let the pill get by him,
and the other by Smith, who mis
judged a Texas leaguer which he was
playing up for.
After the game Brouthers piloted
the club to the train, boarding same
for Columbus. He stated before leav
ing that he expected to capture two
