Superfluous Hair.
Specialist's Advice to Ladles Who Have
Been Deceived and Disappointed.
Thousands of ladles and even young
girls have learned to their sorrow that it
does not pay to trifle with hairy growths
on the face and aVms by trying to re
move them with worthless pastes, pow
ders and liquid depilatories that smell
awfully and burn like mad. There is,
however a simple, inexpensive treat
ment which never fails to remove all
trace of superfluous hair absolutely
Without pain or injury to the skin or
complexion. It was put on public sale
by a well known society woman who
found that it entirely u stroyed all trace
of her own growth, after all else failed.
In a surprisingly large number of cases
it has killed the hair roots so that the
hair has never returned. If you have
tried all the advertised depi’atovies in
vain and want sure, quick results, get
it from Howard’s Rexall Drug Stores, or
any up-to-date druggist or department

comes with every package. Ask for it

cases for alleged criminal violation
of the Sherman anti-trust law will
start about that time. Mr. Gregory
has delined to say what directors he
would proceed against criminally. The
list he said, would include, some of
those named in the civil suit, though
not necessarily all of them, and prob
ably some persons not named.
The answer of the New Haven to
the suit in equity must be filed on or

Bitter Senate Fight Has Ended
By Withdrawal of Chicagoan
For Reserve Board Place.
Washington, D. C.—With the bitter
fight in the senate over the confirmation
of Thos. D. Jones, of Chicago, President
Wilson’s nominee for the federal re
serve board, ended, senators were today
breathing a sigh of relief and prepared
to settle down to practically uninter
rupted consideration of the administra
tion’s anti-trust program. Belief on the
part of President Wilson that the pro
gram might be endangered were the
fight continued was responsible for the
withdrawal of the Jones’ nomination.
The President’s action, however, it was
stated at ihs White House today, was
not an indication that there had been
any change in his determination to in
sist upon the confirmation of Paul M.
Warburg as a member of the board. As
surances have been given tlie President
that Mr. Warburg can be confirmed.
Omar F. Hershey, of Baltimore, and I.
M. Fenton, of Illinois, were understood
to be under consideration today for
nomination in place of Mr. Jones.

Shortest of Conferences Held

on Ulster Situation.
London. —According to the Liverpool
Daily Post, one of the leading Liberal
newspapers, it is frankly acknowl

the conference at Buckingham Palace
to reconcile the conflicting views of
the Irish Nationalists and the Ulster
Unionists must he abandoned. The

The Buckingham Palace today held
the shortest of its sessions. The con
ferees arrived at 11 o’clock hut the
business of the session did not begin
until half past 11 as John F. Redmond,
through a misunderstanding, was an
hour late. Discussion of the Ulster
situation lasted only 40 minutes and
the members then left tne palace. No
statement was given out but it was
expected that Premier Asquith would
make an anouncement in the house of
commons during the day.
Decide Starting Place
of the Air Boat America
New York. —A site thirty three miles
south of St. Johns, N. F., has been se
lected as the starting place of the
trans-Atlantic flight of the air boat
America. Walter D. Walker, who went
went to St. Johns three weeks ago to
select a place for the departure of the
America, returned yesterday. The site
selected, he said, was near Cape Broyle
on a long stretch of sandy beach and
so sheltered as to provide ample pro
tection against adverse winds.
Advices today from Mammoildsport,
N. Y., where the America is under
going her trials, indicated that every
obstacle had been overcome; that the
airboat would be shipped to St. Johns
on Aug. 1, and would start across the
Atlantic about August 15.

THE AUGUSTA HERALD. AUGUSTA. GA.
STERN MEASURE,
ST. PETERSRURG
Upon Departure of President
of France, Quick Firing
Machine Guns Used in Streets
St. Petersburg. A stern measure was
token by the authorities today to press
the strike riots which have been in
progress for several days in the streets
of ttje capital. A large number of
casualties have occurred in conflicts be
tween the police and* Cossacks on one
side and the striking workmen on ihe
other.
Considerable leniency was shown dur
ing tlie presence here of Raymond Poin
care. president of France, but imme
diately after his departure four regi
ments of cavalry of the guard and two
regiments of cuirasseurs reinforced the
police they ae equipped with a number
of quick firing machine guns.
A squadron of cavalry at once came
into contact with the strikers, charging
and dispersing a crowd of them.
The authorities estimate the number
of strikers at 135,000 but it is believed
the total is greater. The street car
service which has been interrupted for
48 hours, was restored today. This fact
incensed the strikers who hurled vol
leys of stones at the cars and their
drivers. Several such demonstrations
were quickly quelled bv comacks. In
the meanwhile the police fired a few
shots at the windows of private houses
from which stones had been thrown
down at them.
One significant feature of the strike
is that the movement Ik'S been joined by
many government employes.
