The marriage of Mite Ituth How

The Augusta Woman’s Club Is tak
ing active measures to insure a Christ
mas without fireworks, and they stand
a pretty good chance of getting what
they are after. They are not asking
for the making of any new law on
the subject, but simply tbat the pres
ent law be not suspended. Christmas
with fireworks Is like a relic of bar
barism. The money burned up could
well be put to n better use, the dan
ger to life and limb Is terrific, to say .
nothing of the sanctity of the day of i
days which should be observed with
some semblance of religion and not
with the bombarding with cannon
crackers, the firing of rockets and the
shooting of Roman candles.
