The plant of the Albion Kaolin Company is located 17 miles from Augusta and occupies 1,000 acres of ground.
It is the largest Kaolin mine in the world. Now covers *4 mile* an d can be extended I*4 miles more in face. This Clay has
more retaining qualities than any other Kaolin Clay mined in this country. Gives paper a fine smooth finish. Enough Clay
in present mine to supply country at present rate of consumption for a hundred years.
The company was founded by C. B. Lamar, president, who was connected with the South Carolina Institution previous
to his coming to Augusta. His photograph, as well as those of L. C. Hayne, vice president, J. C. Lamar, secretary, and
