Senate Turns Down Motion
for Reconsideration of the
M’Grory Measure.

done by the senate Wednesday. The
first hour was spent In debate over a
motion to reconsider the McCrory school
book bill and the Irwin substitute. both
of which were killed Tuesday. This was
lost and the bill Is dead for this ses
sion. Then the additional procedure hill
came up for discussion: vote on thl* whs
postponed until Thursday at 11 o'clock.

Griddle Cakes—To four cups of flour
add three teaspoons of hakltig powder
and enough milk to make a soft batter.
Fry on a hot griddle and serve with but
ter and maple syrup.
LUNCHEON.
Tomato Pudding -Mix a cup of dry
rumbti with four cups
stewed tomatoes. Turn into a baking
dish, place thin slices of bacon on top
and bake in a hot oven until the bacon
is brown.
Chocolate Cornstarch—Boll two cups of
milk, aud a heaping tablespoon of corn
starch and the same of grated choco
late. Dissolve in a little cold water,
pour Into the boiling milk, add halt a
cup of sugar and cook until it thickens.
DINNER
Flandered Halibut Put a tablespoon
of chopped onion and the same of chop
ped parsley In a baking dish. Lav on
this n large slice of halibut. Sprinkle
with a little more onion and parsley, add
pieces of butter, a teaspoon of lemon
Juice, ard bake forty minutes in a mod
erate oven.
Baked French Potatoes Pare and cut
raw potatoes as you would for French
fried Turn into a buttered baking pan.
sprinkle with pepper and salt and lake
until tender and brown.
Fancy Salad —Fill pared and halved
peaches with cream cheese. Serve on
lettuce with ,i dressing made of equftj
parts of vinegar and peach juice
Troolcal Snow Slice In a g ass dish a

and sprinkle with grated cocoanut. Re
peat until the dish is full. Sift over
