Murray was the choice of the majority, as an in stance of how Blease had not stood by his pledge which he made before elected. He attacked the Governor's attitude toward immigrants and pointed out the alleged Charleston dago who was a Colonel on his staff. Smith spoke next and stated at beginning that lawyers were in everything that ’ie got mixed in. i He devoted his time to cotton and his record in the senate. He said that he did not rec | ognize any faction but honest men, j and he challenged any man to cite a j single instance where he had been un | fair to the people.
