Shaw Today In attempting to arrest J. J. Rhiw, a whit# man, in the western portion of the city early this afternoon. Offi cer Ike Giffin was relieved of hi* club, it Is said, and at ruck on the back of the head with It, the blow being administered by Shaw. Shaw, It *s charged, was drunk and disor derly In his house and bad it not been for the Arrival of Officer <tiffin In time, serious trouble would likely have resulted to other occupant* of the house. When Officer Giffin and the pris oner arrived at the police barracks it) company with Lieutenant Britt and other officer*, the art eating officer was In an exhausted condition. Charges of drunkenness and disor derly conduct and resisting an officer have been docketed against Shaw.
