The three-reel Warner for Thursday
is: "The Air Torpedo.” Here is the
synopsis:
This wonderful production aside
from its thrilling plot, gives the most
accurate insight into the possibilities
of modern warfare, as carried on by
Intrepid scouts of the air in piloting
their flying machines into a hostile
country and totally destroying the
whole army by dropping explosive
bombs.
The aeroplane as a fighting machine
has become a stern reality, and that
fnet lends no little interest to this
dramatic story of a conspiracy that
almost wrecker! the career of an hon
ored member of the army. At the be
ginning of the story, Colonel Craw
ford has completed a device for drop
ping explosive shells from aeroplanes
while in full flight. Requested by his
government to guard the plans of the
invention with his life if need he he
has installed a safe. In his home in
which tjie plans are kept.
Colonel Crawford’s son, a typical
young man of the world is continually
getting into scrapes from which he is
<julte often rescued by his sister, who
Is married to Cordon, an
attache of Colonal Crawford's staff
Young Crawford has unfortunately
borrowed $20,000 from one of his com
panions who in a spy In disguise
Pressed for the money, the ungrateful
son resolves to steal the plans of his
father’s invention to settle his loan
with the. scoundrelly McDonald.
Young Crawford executes the theft.
In the middle of the night, in the pres
ence of his sister who has followed
him Into the room.
When dawn breaks, Lieutenant Gor
don finds his wife In a stupor* the
safe door swinging open and every
evidence that the thief had made a
clean get-away. The military detec
tives who are called In tc* investigate,
discover Lieutenant Gordon's glove
on the table, and lock him up as tho
culprit. To save her husband. Colonel
Crawford's daughtej Informs her fa
ther that his son is the real thi<*
Unable to bear the disgrace that an
exposure of the theft will bring, Col
onel Crawford resolves to sacrifice bin
win's life In order to regain the pre
elous plume Taking his seat In a hy
droplane overtakes the motor host In
which the conspirators are escaping
With a blinding explosion, a shell
speeds down ward, totally destroying
the motor boat plowing through the
water beneath It.
Weeks after the catastrophe has oc
curred, the sorrowing father received
a letetr from his son, mating he was
not on hoard the bout that was de
stroyed. having changed his plans for
flight at the last minute.
AT BONITA.

clan seeress and psychic healer.
Scores of fashionable devotees throng
her temple and presently there comes
a man of wealth and affairs who de
sires relief from certain mental ail
ments with which he Is afflicted. He
falls madly In love with her. know
ing that aha Is married and that her
blind husband depends o nher for sup
port. Again the wealthy man visits
her snd tells her of his love. Her
blind husband overhears the conver
sation. Believing that he Is a hin
drance to her happiness, he shoots
himself Ortef-strlcken over the loss
of the ons who loved her with a pure
love, she refuees the attenttona paid
her and eeeka seclusion, devoting the
rest of her life to the uplift of Im

Price Economies That Have
Never Been Equaled
The economy lies in the staunch workmanship
and dependable quality of the furniture which ordi
narily and regularly sells for much more than our
quoted prices. Not since we first flung these doors
wide to home furnishers have such values been put
on sale at the opening of a fall and winter season.
Again we say we’re glad to do it—glad to make
the new friends that the economies will surely create
for the store.
