AVERAGE PRICES
SHOW INCREASES
Washington, D. C.—Average prices of
practically all important agricultural
products on September Ist showed In
creases over quotations of one yeaY ago,
the department of agriculture’s general
review indicated today. Cotton was the
marked exception, dropping nearly three
cents a pound.
Nearly all the grains showed big in
creases. while average prices of meat
animals on August 15th were *7.fc3 per
hundredweight, compared with *57.20 i
year ago. and $6.55 in 1912.
While it was re .-mixed that tHe Eu
ropean war had influenced grain prices,
some bureau officials believed they
would maintain the higher level and that
a shortage of animals would give meats
a Vising tendency.
Corn advanced from $7.51 on Septem
ber Ist last year to $.815 tills month,
wheat from $0,771 to $0,933; oats $0,393
to $0,423; rye from $0,630 to $0,754;
