Chicago.—Wheat advanced sharply to
day, principally on account of higher
quotations at Liverp >l. After opening
7-8 to 2 5-8 above last night prices con
tinued to climb.
Corn ascended with wheat. The open
ing, which varied from 1-8 off to 7-8 up,
was followed by decided gains all round.
Oats went steadily upgrade.
Provisions were firm.
Reports of German and Austrian suc
cesses helped wheat to advance. The
close was nervous, 4 1-8 to 4 6-8 above
last night.
Corn closed firm, 1-2 to 1 8-4 net
higher. ,

COTTON PRICES
New York. —The liquidation committee
of the New York Cotton Exchange no
tified members today that a price of 5.50
had been agreed upon by the Liverpool
Exchange for January and February and
would be effective tomorrow. The price
for December, the committee said fur
ther. would oe adjusted tomorrow at
9.50.
It is understood by the committee that
members having orders to sell at 9.90
in ballot with these orders executed at
9.50. Acting upon this assumption the
committee announced that it would do
so unless notified to the contrary.
