Nsw York.— The Boston Braves hnvo

world series when they clash with the

Fandom in general seem* to ho spoof
ing the chances of the Brave* In such
n battle. But fandom does so with
out taking Into consideration these
highly Important facts.
(1) The team that the Braves would
Bend Into battle with the Athletics Is,
at the present writing, outhittlng the
slugging Athletlca by two points.
(2) The Brave regulars are fielding
3 3 points better thrfh lha Athletic reg

(3) The Brave pitchers—Jsmes, Ru

men the Athletics can pit against the
Braves.
Mackmen Slump.
(4) The Athletlca are In something
of a slump that may oontlnue through - !
out the series.
(5) The Braves, confident and full of
fight, and with spirits high because
of their phenomenal spurt during th"
past two months, w'lll have the hi*
.psychological edge.
>The statement that the Braves nt
present are outhittlng the Athletics
may seem surprising. But It Is true.
The Braves, as a team entire, are hit

"TODAY" TONIGHT.
The Florida Metropolis, of Jack
sonville, In speaking of the play and
company, had the following to say:
"Today,” truly a story of today,
which drives home a lesson well worth
while was the attraction at the Du
val Theater Sunday afternoon and
evening and will be seen there again
tonight.
Written by George Broadhurst and
Abraham Hchomer, the lines were, per
fect, and the entire four acts of the
Play held brilliantly placed touches of
comedy relief.
The story la that of the typically
indulgent American husband who has
educated his wife to a greater love
hr clothes and luxury than she has
for him. Hard times come, and he is
left a bankrupt: They are forced to
give up their beautiful horn*, and
move into a flat. Eighteen months
later the husband Is doing well and
working as a rental agent to pay off
bis debts and to save his good name
with the aid of his mother.and father
while the wife pines for the things
she has lost. Then comes the "friend,"
who tells her how other women get
the things she wants. The husband
calls at the apartment to get the
Bare signed and finds the picture of
his wife. He makes an appointment
with her through the mistress of the
apartment, finding out the rotteness
of his wife's behavior from the un
suspecting mistress. Then comes tho
logical ending of the story.
The entire cast Is well chosen, con
sisting of six principals, Mrs, Garland
(Mien May Herbert), Idly Wagner the
v/lfe (Miss Helen MncKellar); Emma
Wagner, the mother (Miss Helen Jud-
M>n); Hendrick Wagner, the father
(('hurles N. Green): Frederick Wag
ner. the husband (George MacQuar
rle); Mrs. Farrlngdon, the mistress of
the apartment (Miss Amelia May
born), and three minors, the holler
(Frank Kimball); Mrs Farrlngdon's
maid (Miss Hazel Bawden), and the
policeman (Robert Howard.)
Act I takes place In a room In the
home of Frederick Wagner, where the
first five principals are Introduced.
Miss Herbert Impressed the effect of
being the "viper on the hearth" at
o-.ce, and Miss MacKellar was per
fect ns the pleasure loving wife. Miss
•Tudson nnd Mr. Green, as the fnthei
and mother, proved themselves at
or.ee to he lovable, humorous nnd
staunch. Mr. MacQuarrle won ths
sympathy of the audience as the hus
band at once.
Act II Is played in the dining room
in Ftederlck Wagner’s flat, eighteen
months Inter. The name scene In used
for act 111, the time having advanced
four months. Act IV takes place In
the apartment of Mrs. Farrlngdon.
who is splendidly portrayed by Miss
Mayboro. During tills act the cur
tain was lowered for two minute* to
mark the lapse of four hours, and the
suspense Just before the climax was
greatly heightened by a darkened
stage, when the husband was intro
duced to his wife under an assumed
name. The actual tragedy took place
In an alcove of this room.

"NATIONAL HERO SERIES*'NO. 9 #
Admiral de Ruyter—Greatest of Holland’s Sea Captains km
Cl our own Paul Jones, de Ruyter knew no such word as surrender. His life from boyhood up was one constant battle HplHjl
against the enemies of his country. He defeated the proud English navy in two wars. One erf his sea battles witn the f|
English fleet lasted four solid days, and ended with the advantage resting with de Ruyter. Later he fought several great oISFISR
naval duels against the combined English and French fleets, and while his victories were not decisive, he won for Holland undying g | g||
glory. The great de Ruyter abhorred tyranny of every kind, just as do the Hollanders of to-day. When prohibitory enactments are | § ;?: 8
E-oposed to those of the blood of Holland they vote to a man against it .They are wherever found unalterably opposed to any legis- | K.S I
tion which would make the many suffer for the faults of a few. Hollanders know that there is no evil in the barley brews and M K. I BA
light wines of their fathers— EVlL ONLY IS IN THE MAN WHO MISUSES THEM. In America we have thousands of these igjt
splendid people, and Rersonal Liberty always obtains where they reside. For 57 years Anheuser-Busch have enjoyed the
trade of those of Holland blood because every day of these 57 years has been devoted to the honest brewing of Barley-Malt Ilf^B
and Hop brews. It is not to be wondered that 7,500 people are daily required to keep pace with the natural demand K 1
for Budweiser. Its sales exceed those of any other beer by millions of bottles. ANHEUSER-BUSCH-ST.LOUIS,US.A.
