WHAT JEFFERSON COUNTY FARMERS
ARE DOUG TO HEDUGE THE ACREAGE
Fellow Farmers of Jefferson County:
We call your attention to the cot
ton altuatlon. It i« a bitter subject,
but it ia before us and we must rise
to meet it —rise as one man.
In the first place the south has
ttr,ade about an much cotton a* the
mills could use If all of them were
running Beacatifte of poor trade
many of our mills are shut down, or
running half time. The war has shut
down hundreds of mills In Europe.
That kills business everywhere. It
has made the price of cotton go so
low that we cannot buy the clothes
and dresses we need. If we oannot
afford to buy cotton goods the mills
cannot afford to make them. So they
don't make them, and that means
they don’t buy our cotton.
Now. what are we going to do about
it? We are trying to hold our cotton
Every newspaper In the south Is
pushing the great plan. "buy-a
bale at ten cents and hold It." The
south Is a great big customer of the
north and west. We buy millions of
dollars worth of goods from them ev
ery year. On account of this we are
asking them to help save us by the
"buy-a-bale” plan. They are doing
this. Also they are taking our cotton
In trade and then holding It off the
market.
As the thing now stands the mills
have no use for lour million bales of
our cotton, and it will be a long time
before they do have use for It. Sup
pose by these plans, and our own
holding of a part of our crop, we keep
these four million bales stored away
for a year. They would help the
present market pretty good, but what
Sort of a fix would w r e be In next
year? Worse than ever. All this stor
ed cotton would come out to shake
hands with the 1916 crop. What
would we get for It? We would beg
for five cents.
We believe you will agree with us
thst there Is only one thing to do to

save us now and save us next year.
For 1915 don't put your time and
money in cotton. Save it.
Agree right now to reduce your
cotton acreage next year. Agree to
cut off one third. We make this year
15.000,000 bales. Next year let us fall
under 9,000,000. Just as soon as the
mills hear that we have fully decided
to cut one-third, they will bid for our
cotton now. These people over the
United States that we are begging to
buy a bale will begin to beg us to
sell a bale. They will see a profit In
It at ten cents, and will want it
for Investment. Agree right now to
cut your acreage and this will surely
happen.
Many plans are going the rounds to
see If cutting of acreage can't be
forced by law. Calling of legislatures,
meetings of governors, congressional
meetings at Washington. We are try
ing to get the Federal Government to
pass laws cutting acreage. It is the
thing to do, the only thing. Why wait
for the law to make us do things that
we know we ought to do ourselves?
This legal cutting may be done, but it
will take a long time.
This thing should be done now. We
cannot afford to sell a single bale of
our cotton at present prices. But we
can't keep holding all of It. We must
pay what we owe the other fellow,
and we must live.
Just as soon as the mills know we
will cut one-third off our acreage
they will Jump for our cotton, and
our cotton will Jump. Sell slow and
the price won’t break. The mills will
see where they can sell their goods.
The mills don't care what they pay
for their cotton, six. eight, ten or
twelve cents. All they want to know
Is that the price won’t “bust after they
have bought."
Let us agree to cut. We can get
this thing going and in ten days every
town in the south will see what Jef
ferson county has done, and you can
Bet it down in your book that hund
reds of other counties throughout the
south will he hot on Jefferson’s trail.
Do Just exactly what we have done,
and they will thank us for setting the
pace. Let us try It a barrel. More good
will come of this than anything we
can do, and it will come at once.
We enclose a card which reads:
J. F. Brown, Ordinary,
Jefferson County,
Louisville, Ga.
I hereby agree to reduce my cotton
acreage for 1915 one-third of what it
is this year.
(Signed)
We are sending this letter and card
to every farmer in Jefferson county.
Give it your thoughtful attention. Y'ou
will notice that the card is stamped
and addressed. We ask you to sign it
and mail it at once.
The plan is to get every farmer in
the county to sign this agreement. We
will then immediately make a list of
these names and print this letter and
a list pf every name in twelve of the
biggest newspapers in each cotton
growing state: Virginia, North Car
olina, South Carolina, Georgia, Flor
ida, Alabama. Oklahoma, and Texas
This letter will be printed in 144
big newspapers. We will ask these
newspapers to ask every single news
paper in each state to copy this list of
names.
If every farmer will sign the agree
ment there will be a list of 1,500
names. It would be a piece of news
that every paper in the south would
Jump at to print. It is what the pa
pers are working for. It is what ev
erybody is talking about. It is the
only plan to save us, save us now and
save us next year.
All wo want is to start this hall
down the hill. Within ten days a list
of this kind would be printed in 10,-
000 newspapers and Jefferson county
would be "The Pride of the South."
"Now is the time for all good men
to come to the aid of their party."

Stuart’s Dyspepsia Tablet
After Each Meal.
Laughter, smiles and mirth never
go with a "caved-in” stomach. Fancy
a-tir.an-afraid-of-his-food laughing!
There is always that haunting feeling
that a sick stomach Is nothing to
be mirthful about.
"My old grouchy days are funny to
me now."
Just make up your mind to help
nature help herself. Give your body
a chance to make good. Heal the raw
edges of your stomach and give your
blood the tools to make digestive
fluids -with.
There is only one way to make the
body well—give it the chance to make
Itself well. Harmful and strong med
icines handicap the system. Stuart’s
Dyspepsia Tablets go into the stom
ach just like food. They are dissolved
and there they strengthen the weak
ened juices of the digestive apparatus
until the digestion Is made normal.
There Is nothing mysterious or
magical about them. Science has
proved that certain ingredients make
up the digestive juices. Stuart’s Dys
pepsia Tablets are these concentrated
Ingredients—that is all there is to it.
One grain of a certain ingredient con
tained in Stuart’s Dyspepsia Tablets
will digest 3,000 grains of food. This
illustrates how you aid nature re
store her worn-out materials. When
a stomach which is filled with food
receives a Stuart’s Dyspepsia Tablet,
it Is more able to digest the food than
It would be without It. The work is
not so hard nor the task so long.
When the meal Is finally assimilated
the entire system absorbs more nour
ishment and harmful food effects are
eliminated easily, quickly and with
the maximum of benefit.
Every’ drug store carries Stuart’s
Dyspepsia Tablets. To any one wish

ache and Uric Acid.
When you wake up with backache
and dull misery in the kidney region,
it generally means your kidneys are
weak. When your kidneys get slug
gish and clog you must relieve them,
like you relieve your bowels, remov
ing all the body’s urinous waste, else
you have backache, sick headache,
dizzy spells; your stomach sours,
tongue Is coated, and when the weath
er Is bad you have rheumatic twingeg.
channels often get sore, water scalds
and you are obliged to seek relief two
or three times during the night.
To relieve this distressing condition
at once get from your pharmacist a
fair sized bottle of Stuart’s Buchu and
Juniper Compound. Take a table;
spoonful in a glass of water after
meals. Stop eating sweets or sugar.
In a few days your kidneys will then
act fine and natural. A well known
authority says this is the best treat
ment.
Stuart’s Buchu and Juniper Com
pound acts directly on the urine
through the kidneys. It keeps the
blood healthy. It strengthens the
neck of the bladder. It regulates the
kidneys and does away with backache
and ail disagreeable symptoms. If
discouraged with other medicines, be
sure you get Stuart's Buchu and Juni
