Mint Says at Bottom, There’s Nothing to Be Equalized But Personal Expenditures. Chicago, Ills. —Discussing complaints of inequality of the distribution of wealth, Georgre E. Roberts, director of the mint .last night addressed the con vention of Farm Mortgage Bankers’ As sociation at a banquet which closed its meeting. The speaker held that at bottom there is nothing to be equalized but personal expenditures, which he said, raised the question whether captains of industry consume an undue share of the products of the country or whether there would be more products for general distribu tion under government-ownership. “I do not intend to enter upon that subject further than to refer in passing to the recent statement attributed to the postmaster-general that $20,0(K>,000 a could be saved in putting the rural delivery of mail under the contract #ya- SOUTHERN BELL TELEPHONE AND TELEGRAPH COMPANY CHEER IP, KIDDIES, TOMORROW IS RINGUNG DAY! g|g|^ * Cfoocf tem,” said the speaker. Leveling of the Years. The leveling system of the years, which renders useless the Investment plan of fifty yea'.'s before, the develop ment of new leaders and the Inability of any rich man to apply more than a part of his Income to his own personal uses, keep the distribution on as fair a basis, he said, as could be expected un der known systems. He said that present differences among citizens as to food, clothing, op portunities for culture—sll the really good things of life, wore Icsb than ever before “It is not Important tliat there shall be equality In anything else —certainly not In costly dinners, extravagance o\ dress, or more display of possessions— these are superf’ultles and vanities which nobody should want and which nobody should want, rind which genuine culture will ultimately eliminate," he said.
