It is officially announced that the Germans continue to progress at Ant werp and that they are already over the flooded area along the River Nethe. A writer in the Mllitair Wo chenblatt, however, warned the peo ple against an excessive optimism re garding Antwerp as the garrison of the fortress there is still able to con tinue a desperate resistance. The newspapers are re-printing President Wilson’s reply of September 16th to Emperor William’s communi cation in which he reported the find ing of dum-dum bullets at Longwy and protested against the way in which the war was being waged by Germany’s opponents. President Wil son’s reply in effect was that it was unwise to express a final Judgment on the dum-dum protest and express ed the opinion that an accounting would come at the war’s conclusion, when the nations wilt assemble to make a settlement. The newspaper comment on this reply Is most friend ly and is to the effect that any other answer could not be expected. The Tagesxeitung in this connec tion says: "We have a clear conscience from the viewpoint of Justice and humanity in this war and can look the world unfearingly in the face. We, however, do not need to regard the public opinion of the world. In the last in stance the German people, united with the emperor, are alone compe tent to decide the corrctness of Ger many’s course.” Crop reports for October show that potatoes, sugar beet, clover and alfal fa are middling to good. Autumn planting is making good progress. FIRE ANTWERP TANKS. London.—Telegraphing from Ant werp, by way of Amsterdam, a Reuter correspondent says Zeppelin airships cruising shove the fortifications of Antwerp, dropped bombs on some oil tanks at Hoboken, which caught on fire.
