The present year In Augusta has
been one of unueual building activity,
end not the least notable of which ts
the Plata Hotel, located at a point
; easily accessible to the traveling pub
lic. Just opposite the union station,
j makes It especially desirable to those
who do not care to go further up-town
I or spend their nights In the buay oap
i ter of the progressive and growing
I city of Augusta. Therefore, the man
j Rgement expects to get a major por
tion of the traveling men and those
I whose visit to the city will be brief.
| from force of necessity In addition,
! however, a large per cent of those who

i their time—where they are served with
: their meale—where they can get an
j unexcelled service—.will he gucsta In
j this hotel. Taking It all in all. no

I The lobby is possibly one of the most
i attractive rooms in the building, for
I it Is here that the Idle honrs of the
guests are spent. The floor is laid In
trrazzo, a new process which has been
accepted by the public in the highest
and most complimentary terms. The,
walls are especially attractive, high
panels of white brick, finished In san
cota oil, running from the floor to a
height of possibly four feet. Here it
Is taken up with a hard surface plas
tering and finished In old Ivory. Nu
merous columns stand sentinel
throughout the lobby. These are v!t
rollted white enamel with four mir
rors In each. The celling Is metal,
finished In flatkostt oil and Inlaid with
three art glass sky lights. Tn one
portion of the lobby is the news and
cigar stand. Every room Is connected
with the office by means of private
telephones. The office of the manager
Is Just In the rear of the main office.
The furniture In the lobby Is all leath
er. expensively upholstered and made
especially for comfort.
All the beds, chairs, rockers, lobby
and office furniture were bought of
Maxwell Brothers.
pn the ground floor are located the
rajhskeller, buffet, barber shop and
pool roonL The former Is finished In
mission and ts particularly attractive.
Next to It Is the cuisine, which Is also
modern 1n every respect. Only the
latest and most approved furniture and
fixtures are Installed, and the floor
being concrete enubles the manage
ment to keep It extremely clean ns it
will be thoroughly washed each day.
This is possibly the only kitchen In
the city having a concrete floor, thus
Insuring perfect cleanliness.
Two elevators, a freight and passen
ger. will be kept In service at all
times. •

MR. W. T. WILSON, Manager
Plaza Hotel.
The bed-rooms, seventy-five in num
ber, are tastily, yet not lavishly, fur
nished. They consist of brass and
white enamel beds, mahogany tables,
chairs, etc. The floors are laid In Ax
minster, taplstry Brussels and velvet
carpets. The windows have Inside slat
awnings. By special location of the
rooms and arrangement of the floor
space, each room la attached to a bath
—tub and shower —which makes It
particularly attractive to guests, as a
large per cent of those stopping at a
hotel Invariably call for a room with
bath. In most hotels only a few are
provided with this convenience and
luxury, the majority of them being
without bath.
The Augusta Mattress and Manufac
turing Company furnished all the mat
tresses, box and national springs, and
pillows.
Tbs ladles' parlor is furnished In
mahogany, with Wilton rug and piano.
The stair, ars laid with rubber treads,
while the halls are all carpeted In vel
vet and Brussels.
The carpets were furnished by
Messrs. Gomprecht A Benesch, of Bal
timore.
The proprietors ars composed of
Messrs. W. T. Wilson, who will bo gen
eral manager, and Jules Heymann and
Sam Baron. Mr. Wilson says he will
see to It that his guests sr» given a
service that cannot be excelled In any
hotel In the country.
A bright future Is predicted for The
Plata, as Mr. Wilson Is an experienced
hotel man and knows the trade well.
He is very popular and his personality
will unquestionably be the means of
influencing a large number to stop at
the Plasa In preference to other ho
tels In the city. No expense has been
spared, nor anything overlooked tn
perfecting The Plaza—lt may be Justly
termed an ideal hotel from every view
point.
