CHICAGO GRAIN MARKET
Chicago, Ills. —Wheat prices weakened
today owing to the absence of any im
portant speculative buying. After open
ing 3-8 off to 1-8 up, the market sag
ged all around and failed to react with
any spirit.
Clear cold weather gave an advantage
to the bears in corn.
The hears made much of the #act that
stocks of wheat in the United Staes are
row ten million bushels more than at
the corresponding time a year ago. The
close was steady 1 to 1 1-8 under last
Wght.
Eastern demand continued small for
corn. The close was steady at 3-4 to
3-4a7-8 net decline.

NEW ORLEANS COTTON
New Orleans.—The cotton market to
day showed a more bulUah sentiment
following several favorable features In
the news. January contracts traded at
7.08, a gain of 13 points compared with
the low level of laet week.
The trade wee much encouraged by
an official cable message from the Man
chester market stating that more busi
ness was being offered In cloths and
that there was more inquiry for yarns
The- rise of one-eighth of a cent a
pJnd In spot prices at Dallas was con
sidered important. Exports w<e-e heavy,
