THE BR-BEEfi
LICENSES ILL
111 SUE
One Thousand Dollars Will Be
Charge For Operation of
Near-Beer Saloons By City of
Augusta in 1915, So It Is
Learned.
That the city near beer license will
remain the same in 1915 as in 1914 is
learned on what is believed to be high
authority. Early in December this
question will be decided, but it is
practically certain to be SI,OOO. The
city council of Augusta will fix the
near beer license along with other
business lincenses and it is believed
that the SI,OOO license for near beer
dealers will be passed overwhelmingly.
The city’s revenue from near beer
lincenses this year amounted to over
$90,000. There have been various ex
periments tried with regard to the
near been lincenses. from S3OO to
SI,OOO, but it is believed that the
SI,OOO license is here to stay, at least
for another year.

HOSPITAL COMMITTEE
Recommends to City Council
That Contracts For Equip

None of the money to be paid for
the equipment of the hospitals is to
fall due in 1914 or 1915. Whether
council rntiflcs the report of the spe
cial hospital committee or not re
mains to be seen.

A Pertinent Question.
The question has been asked, "In
what way are Chamberlain’s Tablets
superior to pills?” The answer is,
"They are more mild and gentle In ef-’
feet and more reliable. Besides they
improve the appetite, cleanse and in
vigorate the stomach, correct disor
ders of the liver and leave the bowels
in a natural and healthy condition,
while the use of pills, owing to their
drastic effect, is often followed by
constipation. For sale by oil dealers.
