MRS. TALBOTT INTRODUCES
COTTON RESOLUTION.
At the last meeting of the Augusta
Woman’s Club Mr*. Greenville Tal
bott Introduced the following resolu
tion regarding the promotion of the
Uf,e of cotton good*:
Whereas the women of the Houth
desire to do what they can to better
the present cotton condition; and.
Whereas there I* a movement to In
duce the women of tho United States
to a more general use of cotton Roods
which Is attested by the occurrence of
cotton balls, cotton fairs and similar
social entertainments, but such affair*
are often of a ' fancy" or "frivolous"
nature, and not of permanent Rood, ss
costumes so arranged are soon thrown
away- or discarded as useless, and the
tendency of auch affairs is to promote
a "fltd;" and.
Whereas the heat good ran he ac
complished bjr n sensible, constant and
consistent use of cotton goods Instead
of silks, linens, woolens, etc, and by
using cotton drosses for home, street,
■setting and social wear, which can
be done In a much more general and
more satisfactory way than people

Woman's Club of Augusta pledge
themselves to use and to wear cotton
goods as much as possible; that ss

SIBLEY MILL SETTLEMENT
HOME TO HAVE RECEPTION.

and donation dsy on Tuesday, Nov

This home hrus recently added to Its
work the Hlhley Mill Day Nursery.
An assembly room has been added, at
tractive rending rooms furnished, and
a capable matron Is In charge of the
nursery. •
Thank* to the Sibley Mill directors
the enlarged quarters and freshened
room* have' made 11 possible to add
many educational, social and religious
features. A night school will he begun
shortly with a splendid corps of teach
ers; a Olrls’ Club. Mothers’ Club, sew
ing school, boys' club an I game room
will fill a long felt need In this com
mufttty. The special religious depart
ment will be under the charge of Mlsh
Daisy Cummings and tho Baptist min
isters of the city.

gymnasium entertained at a Juvenile
party Monday evening, Nov. *th. The
guests were dressed as children and
the effect was quite amusing.
All entered enthusiastically Into the
sp rit of the occasion and the evening
w , thoroughly enjoyed, (lames and

chrysanthemums.
Before the ceremony Mrs. Ruth Irvin
(an aunt of the brides) saug 'Be
cause.'' Miss Marion Hill played the
wedding march. The four ushers
were Messrs. Gray Howell, Clem But
ton, Howard Orr and H. W. Quinn.
The two sisters of the brides were
the maids-of-honor, Mias Ruth Woot
ten acting as maid for Miss Um
Wootten, Miss Annie Wootten acting
as Miss Katie Wootten'# mald-of

Dr. T. Arthur Price, who is a suc
cessful dentist of Ashbiim, had as his

Mr. James Read, who Is a resident
of Washington, Is well known and very
popular here, lie had as his best man

The two little flower girls, Bara

brilliant and talented young woman.
