CHICAGO GRAIN MARKET
Chicago, Ills.—After firmness at the
outset today, wheat showed a tendency
to sag. Northwestern receipts continued
In excess of last year's figures. High
er coble quotations afforded only brief
help to the bulls. Opening prices which
ranged from 1-8 to l-4c higher, were
followed by a moderate setback all
'around.
Ideal weather put the bears In control
for the corn market. After opening 1-8
to 3-8 c off, prices continued to decline.
Oats turned downward with wheat and
corn.
Liberal arrivals of hoga made provis
ions easy. Fairly good support, though
developed on the decline.

New Orleans.—Early trading In cotton
futures was confined to old style Jan
uary and new style March. At first
offerings were rather liberal and Janu
ary lost eight points, while March lost
six. On the decline the demand
strengthened and half an hour after the
opening the market was three to four
Points under yesterday's close.
Reports that Texas spot markets were
easier were against prices and at noon
the decline amounted to 16 to 21 points.
Cotton futures closed quiet and steady

NEW YQ.RK COTTON
New York.—The cotton market was
comparatively quiet again today. The
action of yesterday's market seemed to
have been generally satisfactory In view
of prevailing conditions and the sagging
tendency of prices evidently created no
apprehension as to the position of the
remaining old Interest. 'Liverpool was
some 2 to 344 points lower at the hour
of the opening here this morning and
the local market opened steady at a de
cline of 2 to 6 points. i-rices eased off
another point or two during the early
trading tinder scattering liquidation of
old style December contracts, and some
Southern selling of later deliveries.
There was a moderate demand on a scale
down from commission houses, presum
ably in the way of Investment buying.
Southern selling seemed to be a lit
tle more active during the middle of the
day while there was furthrt" liquidation
of old style contracts and prices eased
off with the active months selling about
12 to 16 points net lower.
After selling about 25 to 29 points net
lower under southern hedging and liqui
dation of old contracts the market
steadied a point or two on covering and
Investment buying.
Cotton futures closed steady.
