There were about 75 or *5 guesis present and a deltghtfii social evening was enjoyed, the pleas ure and entertainment being enhanced by the singing of the young 'men pres ent Mrs. Osborne's pretty rooms were very effectively adorned with a pro fusion of chrysanthemum# In all their regal beauty In the dining room, where a delirious hul’fot supper was Merted, the directors assisting In the serving, the decorations were a skillful combination of gold and red. The table was laid with cluny lace and wreathed with chrysanthemums vary ing from pure white, delicate crea/m, pale yellow, rich gold and deep red, all delicately yelled In maidenhair fern. Bonbons and confections carried out the same tones. Colonial candlesticks In brass held candles shaded In yellow tulips and the lights above and In the parlor also were shaded In yellow tulips which shed a subdued brilliancy ovet the scene. Delicious fruit nectar was served by Miss Neall of Thomson from a howl wreathed In chrysanthemums. Miss Neal was very handsome in a gown of rose colored crepe with prlncesse lace draperies. Mr and Mrs. Osborne received their guests usslstcd by Mrs. Charles 11. Pliinizy and the directors, Mrs. Os borne wearing a becoming gown of suit cream lace over satin with a cor sage hoii'iiici of Klllarney roses. Mrs. I‘hinlsy was very lovely in varying tones of lavendar. WOMAN'S CLUB AT WORK FOR BELGIAN SUFFERERS. There was a splendidly attended meeting this morning at the Albion parlor as the result of a called meeting by the Augusta Woman’s club to ar range about sending aid to the Hel glan sufferers. Every denomination was reptesented and the club Is even more thoroughly enthused In regard to this splendid work which it has taken up. Tub man girls will, during certain periods, cook and prepare food and dainty dishes as they are taught In the regu lar course of their school work. In this way the club hopes to reach every man, woman and child In the city and se cure their co-operation. TUBMAN GIRLS DOMESTIC SCIENCE EXHIBIT AT LEVY’S. Another fine "Live at Home” dis play is In one of J. Willie Levy’s win dows and ts the work of the Tubman girls. It shows some dainty pieces of I lingerie, some lovely kimonos and dressing sacqiies, the most fascinating , of boudoir caps, artistic coat hangers and many other dainty feminine ac cessories that so appeal to women. This department of the Tubman is in charge of Miss Schulemann and re flects credit on what she has accom plished. Y. W. C. A. NOT IN CONTEST. It Is officially announced by Mrs. Charles Chintzy, president of the Y. W. C. A., that the association is not In the Wise or Purple Stamp con tests. In appreciation of the splendid help given them In their recent M. & M. Contest the members of the asso ciation would like to give their per sonal and Individual following to wards some other organization or or ganizations. PARENT-TEACHERS OF HOUGHTON SCHOOL TO MEET. The meeting, of the Parent-Teachers Association of Houghton Grammar School will be held Thursday after noon at four o’clock at the school. Ala. —Mrs. Susie Wheless and Miss Bert Wheless are visiting relatives in Kansas City. MRS. BELL'S DISPLAY IN VON KAMP'S WINDOW. Among the many attractive displays that are put on by the "Live at Home” boosters there Is nothing that has at tracted more universal admiration than the west window of Von Karap, Vaughan & Gerald. The display is made by Mrs. S. E. Bell and Is cotton all the way through. The entire win dow is hung and carpeted with fleecy cotton. Standing as if Just ready to step forth Is the figure of a beautiful young woman In evening dress and big muff being made of cotton hat ting decorated In silver tinsel and gar nitured In pearls. Banding the stylish blonde coiffure is a stunning ban deaux of cotton and silver. The en tire exhibit is very skilful and does credit to the artistic ability and clev erness and uniqueness of Mrs. Bell. —Miss Louise Smith, of Atlanta, who holds the responsible position of head cataloguer at the Atlanta Li brary, is visiting Miss Pauline Ben son in North Augusta. —Friends of Miss Margaret Godbee will he very pleased to learn of her satisfactory condition after surgical treatment for appendicitis. Ellen Richards, as It Is generally known, was the founder of the home economics movement, and It was she who laid the foundation of the magnificent work that has been adopted into the better schools throughout the land, as It was she who, after laboring for'many years to direct public thought toward culti vation (V the art of right living in the full sense of the word, inaugurated the l.ake Placid conferences, which are held annually and attended by home economics workers from every state. Ellen Richards died in 1911 at the height of her career. A memorial fund Is now being raised. Instead of erect ing a marble shaft to her memory It has been decided to employ the money raised In the education of young wo men for the further promotion and prosecution of home economics work, that they may become teachers and carry oti the Important work. I gist year a bazaar was held at Tub man High school to raise a contribu tion to the Ellen Richards Memorial fund and 125 was forwarded. Home Products to Be Used. Tomorrow home products will be used at the cooking demonstration. A number of different ways of baking bread from Richmond county-raised cortrmeal and preparing Richmond county potatoes, for Instance, will he shown; and in addition many dainty dishes xx 111 be prepared. The demonstration will be Interest ing and Instructive and open to the public. From the Lombard plant are shown a machlrfe fir straightening second hand cotton bale tires, another for riveting together pieces of cotton hale 'tires, a modern saw mill outfit, an [aluminum cast patetrn and besides a small engine by H. P. Paul at Lom bard's, a number of different Augusta imude articles. The Georgia Iron Works shows saw mill, phosphate mining and fertiliser mixing machinery as made In their Augusta plant. The Holley Wagon Company has on display two Augusta-made wagons, one tank wagon manufactured espe cially for an out-of-town customer, and the other the regular product of this enterprising Augusta concern in a one-horse farm, wagon—the two showing that the Holley Wagon Com pany is prepared to meet any require ment. A buggy top as made by this concern Is also shown. Made in Augusta. The Hill Sterling Ice Cream Com pany is calling attention to Augusta's Ice cream manufactory with an ex hibit which serves to give an Idea of something of the scope of Its work.
