Invitation From the Academy, Tomorrow afternoon at 4 o’clock and Saturday morning at 10 o’clock, the Augusta public—particularly the par ents of the cadets—are invited to visit the Academy of Richmond County and there see the cadets actually at work in the laboratories and shops. Shop work as done by cadets is shown in variety at the Academy ex hibit. A number of the articles dis played—in fact, most of them—have been taken from the office and labor atories at the Academy, where they have been in use since they were made. There are included in the ex hibit office desks, typewriter tables, hat racks, and other office fixtures, the workmanship and finish of whicn compares most favorably with the products of furniture factories making these kinds of goods. A glass-covered case contains a number of dumbbells and other things made by cadets. There are also shown some of the shop tools, and in iron work, a num ber of shovels, fire-tongues, nuts and bolts turned out by the cadets, at the Academy forge. Books and appliances giving a fair idea of the work done in the com mercial and business department of the school are also made a part of the exhibit, and the walls of the show' window are covered with some splen did specimens of mechanical draw ings. Market Headquarters Popular. Yesterday and today large crowds have visited Ihe City Market Head quarters at No. 6211 Broad Street, where there are on display a number of industrial exhibits, and which is proving to be a very popular place. During the week there have been many converts made to the Dive at Home idea and the movement, It seems, is now pretty well ground - rooted. Kverything Is moving steadily on toward the climax of Dive at Home Week—Saturday, when the farmers of the Augusta section come to furnish the country produce for the Open-Air Market on the 600 and 600 blocks of Broad Street. The farmers and trnckers of this section should need no further invi tation to come into town Saturday with such produce as they may have to sell, for it has been demonstrated that the Augusta public is even more than willing to enter into direct trad ing relations with them. The market it here. The produce to supply it— only that—is needed. Other Exhibits. Larger crowds were out yesterday making the rounds of the exhibits of Augusta products than on any prev ious day of Live at Home Week. These displays are still to be seen— may be seen any day, and at any time of the day, through Saturday. And they are well worth the seeing. They contain a lesson vital to all Au gustans. One of the most interesting exhibits is that of the Singleton Silk Mills In the show window of the Guarantee Shoe Company. The Singleton Silk Mill has been in operation In Augusta for nine years past. In the exhibit Is shown a bundle of raw silk as it reached Augusta direct from Japan, and a large bundle of the silk as it is spun in the Augusta mill by Augusta men and women. No cloth Is woven here, but the spun silk is shipped to mills In the blast, and there woven into the finest fabrics. Spools of the thread in the different stages during the process of weaving are included, and, in addition, some of the silk woven here after it has been dyed. Augusta-Made Cigars. The Wolfe & Lombard Cigar Com pany are showing In their own window the different products of their cigar manufactory—boxes of their three brands, the F. A. W., the Mellow, and the Portico. More Cotton Mill Displays. In the window of the Wise Dry Goods Company the Globe Cotton Mill and the Sutherland Manufacturing Company have displays of the heavy goods made by these two mills— osnaburg and duck. Them goods bear the stamp of the Augusta mills mak ing them. In the same window, Mrs. J. H. Jones, of North Augusta, has a most creditable display of home-made pickles. "Made in the United States of Am erica” Is the slogan of the Augusta Factory, and that Is stamped on every piece of goods the Augusta Factory turns out. Drills, sheetings and osna burgH made by the Augusta Factory are displayed In the show window of Golden Itrothers’ store. More Augusta Products. The Augusta Mattress and Manu facturing Company has an attractive display ip the show window of Max well Brothers' Furniture Store. The products of this concern, White Eagle Felt Mattresses, Crescent Kelt Mat tresses, Royal Monach Colt Springs, firant Coil Springs, National Fabric Springs, Woven Wire Cots, Folding Cots and Pillows as turned out by this factory are shown.
