In the first place Har vard has done better Hgalnst the two common opponents to date. Princeton and Washington and Jefferson. Har vard beat W. and J. by 10 to 0. where as the Blue lost to the same team, la to 7. Harvard trounced Prince ton by 20 to 0. two week* ago. and last Saturday Ynle was barely able to down the Tigers, 10 to 14 In rating the two big elevens on a basis of what they did against Prince ton. some followers of Yale contend that the Tiger* improved a lot after losing to Harvard and that therefore Vale really beat a better tram than Harvard crushed. This ts not sound logic, however, for Yale had bad an additional week for practice and de velopment, the same week Itt which Princeton was supposed to have made such strides Thus the comparison of the 20 to 0 and I# to 14 scores along straight lines would seem to be a true one. It ts even more than a true one. when the fact is taken Into considera tion that Severn! of the Crimson atars were playing their first gune after leaving the hospital list and therefore had to be cateful In avoiding risk of further Injury. There are two other Important ad vantages the Crimson holds o\er the Blue. The regulars, with the excep tion of about three men, hail a com plete rest last Saturday while the sec ond team men opposed Brown. At the time they were taking It easy, the Vale men were being worn out and bruised by the stern conflict with Princeton. Added to this favorable condition is the fact that the Hurvard regulars nearly every member of the varsity—watched the Yale Princeton game last week and saw the Blue un cork every play In Its repertoire The Yale men have had no such chance to get n line on Harvard, for In the Crimson's only big game with Prim e ton tt won so easily that ft was not obliged to display half of 11s resources. 15 to 20 Point*. The telephone users in the community who can be reached by one are inaccessible to the other. To reach them all means the inconvenience and added ex pense of two telephones. Yale appears to own superiority in j only three places. One spot is <n the | line, where Captain Talbot plays at j left tackle, and two places In the back \ field, Aleck Wilson at quarterback and Harry 1-egore at full back. Talbot, of all-American calibre for two years, is a better man than Trumbull, who will lure up opposite him. He is mere powerful and more versatile, though Trumbull ts Harvard's best lineman but one. Wilson excels Logan in all except generalship, where it Is a standoff. Legore can do everything better thaji Francke of the Crimson except hit a line hard, and he is about as good at that. Harvard owns a considerable edge at loth halfback positions, with Ma han and Bradlee outshining Ainsworth and Knowles generally. Hardwick Is better end than any Yale nas and Pennock Is the star guard of the bat tle. The other positions seem nearly! a toss-up. with Harvard owning prob. ably a slight edge. Playing Together.
