CHICAGO GRAIN MARKET
Chicago, ills. —Bears had an advantage
in the wheat market today owing to a
sharp break in prices reported from Ar
gentina on accoun of better weather for
the harvest. After opening 1-8 to 3-Sc
lower, prices underwent a moderate ad
ditional sag.
Clear cold weather had a bearish in
fluence on corn. The opening, which
varied from the same as last night to
S-8c down, was followed by a period of
steadiness within the initial range.
Export houses picking up scattering
lots made the oats market relatively
firm. On the whole, though trade was
light.
Provisions ruled steady in line with
quotations for hogs. Packers seemed
disposed to sell on the hard spots in the
market.

NEW YORK COTTON
New York. —The report of the Census
Bureau published today established a
new high record for ginning to Novem
ber 14th the amount, 11.624,708 bales,
comparing with 10,444,529 last year and
11,313,236 in the big crop yetr of 1911.
.Three figures were considered as
strengthening crop estimates of slightly
over 16.000,000 bales Including linters,
or possibly the greatest yield on record,
but failed to inspire any immediate
selling of consequence. The market
opened steady at an advance of one
point to a decline of one point and soon
became firm on renewed covering of
December, which sold up to 7.36 or 20
points net higher. letter months ad
vanced in sympathy with new style con
tracts ruling about ten to thirteen points
above last night's closing fgiures before
the end of the first hour.

NEW~ ORLEANS COTTON
New Orleans—Surprising strength
was shown in the cotton market today
soon after the record-breaking figures on
ginning from the Census Bureau were
made public. Half an hour after the
opening the trading months were ten to
twelve points over yesterday's close. It
was generally considered that a decline
would have been logical in view of th
fact that in the firßt two weeks of No
vember and for the season thus fur more
cotton has been ginned In the South
■than ever known before.
Cotton futures closed steady at a net
