Buried at Annapolis.

United Staten navy and Hnn-in-lnw of
Judge Emory Hpeer, died Tuesday at
the navy hoHpital in Brooklyn, N. Y.,
after a brief illness of pneumonia.
The interna l t will he made in the na
tional cemetery at Annapnlie, Md., ac
cording to the request of Captain Siß
nor. Mrs. Annie Burr, of Macon,
daughter of Judge Speer and A. Jl.
Heyward, son-in-law of the judge, will
be the attendants from Macon at tho
funeral.
Mrs. Burr left the city last week
and reached the bedside of ('apt. * ig
nor Monday and was with him at tho
time of his death. Mr. Heyward left
for Brooklyn yesterday.
Capt. Signor Is survived by bis
widow and »wo daughters. Judg*
Speer adjourned court in Augusta
Upon learning of Capt Signor's death
and returned to Macon last night. He
will not return to Augusta until after
New Year.
Capt. Signor met Miss Bailie Speer,
who later became bis wife, in Sa
vannah during tho Spanish-American
war. She was there with Judge Spoor
at the time who was presiding over
the federal court,
During tho Spanish-American war,
Capt. Signor won laurels for himself
in several acts of bravery. He was
on the torpedo boat, "Roger" In tho
blockade of Santiago. Later he was
commissioned captain and placed in
charge of a gunboat.
In the Philippine Islands, Capt. Sig
nor distinguished himself when he
took a company of marines and routed
n hand of Rolos who were armed and
stationed at tho crater of the moun
tains.
Capt. Signor was retired about two
years ago hut continued in the service
of the government as a navy yard
official in the Philippines navy yard,
loiter he was In the Brooklyn yard
doing specal work for tho govern
ment.
A communication last night from
Secretary of the Navy Josephus Dan
iels to Judge Speer stated that the in
terment will he made at Annapolis.

themselves the "Kangaroo Club,” have
given the policeman a hunch of trou
ble, and they were rounded up only
after a series of pranks in an Atlanta

Commissioner Sells has invoked tho
law which empowers him to suspend
payments to the Indians when ho is
convinced Intoxicating liquors are
within convenient reach of thorn. He
has directed the superintendent of the
Osage Reservation to suspend the De
comber payment of several hundred
thousand dollars "unless he is satis
factorily assured hy the chiefs and
head men of the tribe and the county
and town officers, and also the lend

RIVED IN COFFIN
Copenhagen. It is related hwe th.tt
nn Austrian widow named Mueller,
whose husband hail fallen In the war
and who had lived many years In JPe
troffrad, died. The news reached her
nephew at Vienna and he made the
request, that the body of bis beloved
aunt be sent to the Austrian capital
for interment in the family vault.
Aunt Mueller died Junt when the
Krent Russian avalanche was about
to roll forward k second time. After
many negotiations with the military
authorities, delays and vexations, the
coffin was borne to Aienna.
Alas! when the bereaved family
came to look upon Aunt Mueller for
the last time they discovered a Rus
sian general In full uniform, his
sword at his side and the cross of St.
George on his breast.
The nephew dispatched an Inritrt i
telegram to Retrograd, Informing i; *-
military authorities that they had sent
him a Rusfdan general instead of Aunt
Mueller, requesting that this terrible
mistake should be rectified at once.
The nephew received the following
telegram in reply;
"Bury the Russian general quietly
and with reverence. Aunt Mueller was
laid to rest two days ago, at Pctrograd,
with grand military honors. M
