CLOTHIER
fHE AUGUSTA HERALD, AUGUSTA, GA.
I til “Up fltainsl 0’
And I make bold to toll you about it here—
not that you haven’t troubles enough of your
own, or that I expect the good people of Augusta
to start a relief fund for me, but if I can get you
to fully understand and appreciate the situation,
I can show where you may profit well by my
misfortune and in so doing, save me from fur
ther loss:
Several months before the disastrous strug
gle in Europe, I repaired to Eastern markets,
bent upon securing the highest grade and quali
ty of men’s clothing that could be had to sell on
my two price plan of $lO and sls. I interviewed
the leading clothing manufacturers of this coun
try to whom I explained my purpose of selling
the best SIO.OO and $15.00 clothes in this country
for the money on the closest profit margin, de
pending on volume of sales to make' good. I met
with such hearty co-operation from manufactur
ers that I then and there bought a stock of suits
and overcoats fully doubly as large as I had ever
had before. Hut who would not? The clothing
that I bought and now have in stock is actually
being sold by these manufacturers today in
wholesale lots at more than my price to you of
SIO.OO and $15.00, and merchants elsewhere are
asking from $20.00 to SIO.OO for these self same
garments. But now, with double my usual stock,
paying a higher rent than heretofore and a heavy
fixed expense for clerks, lights, et.,
Business Is Way Off
What’s the Answer?
The only one I can see is I must unload as
best I can, and take such loss as is necessary,
but my clothing must go, and I am going to offer
them at exactly cost price to me, viz:
Any SIO.OO Suit or Overcoat in my house for
which others are asking $15.00 to OO ftr
$20.00
Any $15.00 Suit or Overcoat in my house and for
which others are asking $20.00 to 7C
