The company, carrying one hundred people, with the shows’ wild animals, full equipment, etc., came in in eight cars, and unloaded near the Lamar Hospital, where they have secured the use of a large building in which to house until warm weather again. The Smiths’ Shows bring thousands of dollars to Augusta every winter. Their presence means something to the local bakers, butchers, and other merchants, for it requires not a Rmall amount to clothe and feed the people with the shows and feed the animals during the whole winter season.
