The census report was without any special influence. Ginning for the remainder of the season must be the largest percent age of the crop on record if the final out turn is to approximate the government's estimate but weather conditions have been unfavorable during the Inst month which may have interfered with opera lions to some extent. There was some European buying here around the open ing figures and scattering investment demand but prices eased off another point or two after the call under real izing. The early decline was checked by a renewal of trade and investment buying and the market steadied with prices back to about the closing figures of Saturday shortly after midday. There were many buying orders and offerings were well taken. Half an hour after the opening the trading months were two to five points under Saturday’s close. At the lowest of the morning prices were four to eight points down. Brok ers reported renewed buying for German account and investment buying was in evidence. NEW YORK STOCK MARKET New York.—Shares of some of the leading eastern railways were heavy in today’s early and narrow session. Read ing and Lehigh Valley were down 1 V 2 '\->oints, falling under last weak's low prices, presumably because of the shafp cut in coal rates ordered by the Penn sylvania Public Service Commission. Pennsylvania and Southern Pacific lost fractions as did Great Northern and Bal timore and Ohio and United States Steel, Amalgamated Copper which showed some strength at the outset soon yielded and the whole market relapsed into dullness. The market showed a little mrPe steadiness in the afternoon hut ral'les were limited to fractions. CHICAGO GRAIN MARKET Chicago, Ills. —Outlook for a big de crease of local stock and of a heavy falling off in the United States visible supply total advanced wheat today. Cash and December deliveries went above any previous level this year. Opened % off to % up. then rose all the way from % to 2%, compared with Saturday night. Corn’s strength was mainly owing to the wheat bulge. Opened from a shade to % higher followed by much higher prices all round. Oats climbed with other cereals. Commission houses were active buyers of provisions and carried the market up in almost as quick time as grain. A wheat reaction came later on profit taking, but there was a subsequent ral ly.
