"Of course, T hope that the present owners will continue In that capacity, hut at any rale I confidently believe that Savan nah will he a member of this circuit when the season begins next April." The committee, which Is headed by Alton B. Parker, has not yet made I public its report, but a preliminary announcement Issued concerning It to day by the federation says: "The report covers a variety of In ! cidents where a claim has been made that free speech has been Invaded. A review of these cases shows that while free speech Is the right to express one’s opinion orally, It Is not the right :to do so in language of any charac j ter, since words which tend to incite 'to disorder, violence and crime, or language which is blasphemous or obscene may not be used. ‘‘Neither is It the right to express lone’s opinion for every purpose since j one may not incite to disorder or I crime or advocate criminal anarchy. 'Neither Is free speech the right to j make one's self heard at any time or lat any place since the right may not be exercised at times and places when iso doing interferes with equal rights : of other persons. But these neces sary restrictions upon speech do not impair the reasonable freedom guar anteed by the constitution.” “FEDS" REFUSE JOHNSON MONET Weeghman Returns Six Thous and Dollars to the “Iron Man”---Money to Figure in Legal Proceedings. Chicago—Six thousand dollars which nobody seems anxious to keep, Satur day started on a return journey to Coffpyvllle, Kas., whence it was re cently mailed by Walter Johnson, pitcher of the Washington Americans, to Clias. H. Weeghman, president of the Chicago Federals. The $6,000 was originally paid to Johnson to bind Ms contract to play with the Federal League and its return to Weeghman came after Johnson had reconsidered and had again agreed to play with Washington. The registered letter containing the money was refused by Weeghman and probably will figure in the legal pro ceedings which, according to the Fede ral League chiefs, will be brought to prevent Johnson from voiding the contract he signed with them. DOES TODD, PRISONER IN ATLANTA, KNOW WHERE THE SIO,OOO LOOT IS HIDDEN? Atlanta.—John Todd, a prisoner in the Federal prison here, lias twenty more months to serve, and he may emerge to find a fortune of ten thou sand dollars waiting for him, so At lanta detectives believe. The treas ure is that stolen from a bank at War wick, Ga., last March, and which has never been recovered, despite the ar rest of suspects. Yeggs blew the Warwick bank safe on March 6, 1914, got the ten thousand and disappeared. Two days later John Todd, John Williams, Henry Marks and Frank Moore, who had all kinds of explosives and yeggmen's tools on their persons, were arrested as they stepped off a Seaboard train in Mont gomery, Ala. It was shown that two of the men had hoarded the train at Louvale and the other two at Lump kin, on the preceding night. These staions are close together and not far across the country from Warwick. The detectives believe these men blew' the safe and hid the coin. They were sent up for two years for bring ing explosives from one state to an other on board a passenger train, but three of them are accused of a train robbery and therefore Todd is likely to gain his liberty many months ahead of the others. If he knows where the coin is buried, the detectives think he will waste no time in getting away with it. PROSPECTIVE’YANK TEAM PURCHASERS CONFER WITH FARRELL New York.—For the first time since negotiations started for the sale of the New York Americans, Col. Jr.cob Huppers and Captain T. L. Huston conferred today with Frank Farrell, president and part owner of the club. Hitherto Ban Johnson, president of the American League, had conducted negotiations. It was said that Farrell submitted statements of the club's liabilities and assets as well tvs a list showing the gate receipts for games both at home and abroad during the last four years. The three negotiators decided to meet again Monday when Ruppert nnd Huston, it was said, either will take over the club or drop negotia tions. 36 RIFLE CLUBS FROM 34 CITIES IN RIFLE SHOOT Washington —Thirty-six rifle clubs from thirty-four cities participated this week in the opening match oi the Rifle Club Gallery championship under the auspices of the National Rifle Asso ciation of America.
