usual graceful manner.
NEW YEAR’S DAY SERVICEB
AT ST. PAUL’S CHURCH.
Tomoriow, New Tear’s Pay, and the
Feast of the Circumcision, there will he
services with a brief address at St.
Paul’s at 11 o’clock. Rev. O. Sherwood
Whitney officiating.

general public, especially the business

BABY AND JUNIOR
DIVISION TO HAVE
MITE BOX OPENING.
The Baby and Junior Division of
she Missionary Society of St. James’
Church will have their annual mite
box opening tomorrow at 4 at the
Sunday school. Following the open
ing there will he a wonderful Punch
and Judy show to which a cordial In
vitation Is extended to the mothers of
the children to attend.
RECENT ACTION OF BOARD OF
DIRECTORS OF YOUNG WOMEN’S
CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION.
Owing to the stringent financial
conditions, the board of directors of
the Young Women's Christian Asso
ciation of Augusta have decided to
dose the office of general secretary.
The situation is explained by the
following letter from Mrs. It. S. Ar
lington, corresponding secretary Y. W.
O. A., to Miss M W. Ht rot her. the
present secretary of the association:

My dear Mtss Strother: At the re
cent meeting of the hoard of directors
of the Y. W. C. A., the urgent necessity
for reducing expenses was made
known, this matter having boon enro
fully eonsidered by the executive com
mittee In a session previous to the
regulsr hoard meeting.
After due deliberation It was derid
ed to close the office for the present.
According to the agreement govern
ing your relations with the hoard, you
are hereby notified of this action.
] am authorised to convey to you
an expression of tho fact that In re
leasing you, the hoard feels that the
work must suffer a distinct loss, and.
but for the stress of the times this
action would not be considered.
Your service to the board has been
highly satisfactory, and there exists
the hope tha* you may again he ron
neeted with the work. With kindest

MORGAN MORGAN.
Th entarrlage of Mrs. Marcia Leo
nora Morgan and Mr. Beauregard
Morgan was an Interesting event of
lost evening, taking place at 7:30 at
the parsonage of the Woodlawn Bap
tist Church, Rev. Mr. Hutchtngson of
ficiating. In the presence of ft number
friends who after the ceremony
showered them with cordial felicita
tions
Both Mr. and Mrs. Morgan are well
known Augustans. Mrs. Morgan was
the wife of the late O. W. Morgan,
and is a very fine woman, a fact
which Is attested by the many friends
who are so devoted to her.
i. r. Morgan has been connected with
the Augusta Fire Department for ths
past twenty-slxe years, and was last
year awarded his pension, hut his love
for the life which he had lived so long
was so strong that he still continues
with the department and is now sec
ond assistant chief.
Mr. and Mrs. Morgan are now at
home to their friends at 1638 Broad
Street.
—Mrs J. B Weir was called to
Greenville, S. t\, yesterday on account
of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Btrad
ley’s accident In being severely burn
ed about the face and head from the
explosion of a patent coffee pot and
the Illness of her little daughter.
Their many friends will regret exceed
ingly to hear of Mrs. Htrsdley's mis

little Miss Annette Kellogg, a winsome
small daughter.
