ous group of torpedo boa.ts were seen
today off the Aland Islands, at the en

ing south. Later they passed Gotland
close to the shore. It Is believed
they have again been active Ir. the
laying of mines in the Gulf of Both
nia All the shipping in the gulf has
now been stopped.
The foregoing dispatch, if true, dis
proves a story from Petrograd over a
month ago to the effect that the

DON’T WASH YOUR
HAIR WITH SOAP
When you wash your hair, don't
use soap. Most soaps and prepared
shampoos contain too much alkali,
which is very injurious, as It dries
the scalp and makes the hair brit
tle.
The best thing to use is Just plain
mulsified cocoanut oil, for this is
pure and entirely greaseless. It’s
very cheap, and beats soaps or any
thing else all to pieces. You can
get this at any drug store, and a
few ounces will last the whole fam
ily for months.
Simply moisten the hair with wa
ter and rub it in, about a tea
spoonfil is all that is required. It
makes an abundance of rich,
creamy lather, cleanses thoroughly,
and rinses out easily. The hair
dries quickly and evenly, and is
soft, fresh looking, bright, fluffy,
wavy and easy to handle. Besides,
it loosens and takes out every par
ticle of dust, dirt and dandruff.
Dr. Osier on Tuberculosis
Sir William Osier, one of the foremost
of living medical men, formerly of Johne
Hopkins, Baltimore, and now Regius
Professor of Medicine at Oxford, says In
his “Practice of Medicine’’ (1892), on
page 249:
“The healing of pulmonary tuberculo
sis Is shown clinically by the recovery
of patients In whose sputa elastic tis
sue and bacilli have been found. * * *
In the granulation products and asso
ciated pneumonia a scar tissue Is form
ed while the smaller caseoua areas be
come Impregnated with lime salts. To
such conditions alone should the term
healing be applied."
Many eminent medical authorities
have testified to the efficacy of lime
salts In the treatment of tuberculosis,
and the success of Eckman’s Alterative
In this and allied throat and bronchial
affections mny he due partly to the fact
that it contains a lime salt so combined
with other valuable Ingredients as to be
easily assimilated.
Widespread use of this remedy In
numerous cases of tuberculosis—many of
which appear to have yielded complete
ly to it —Justifies our belief that It Is
worth a trial, unless some other treat
ment already is succeeding. It contains
no opiates, narcotics or hablt-formlng
drugs. We make no promises concern
ing It any more than reputable physi
cians give promises with their prescrip
tions, but we know of many cases In
which IT HAS HELPED.
Youtr druggist has It or can get It,
or you can send direct.

This Formula Really
Makes Hair Grow
Romo time ago I read in your paper a
formula for a preparation which wiih
claimed to destroy the dandruff germ
and to strongly stimulate the hair
growdh. In spite of the fact that I had
already tried many preparations without
benefit, and my hair was thin and fall
ing out very fast, 1 decided to give your
formula a trial. Accordingly 1 got my
druggist to put up 6 ounces of Bay Hum.
2 ounces I-avona <le Composee, and %
dram of Menthol Crystals, and applied it
regularly every morning and night, rub
bing carefully into the sealp with the
finger tLps. Much to my delight and
astonishment the Intolerable Itching
ceased with the first application, the
dandruff disappeared, the falling out of
the hair stopped completely, and by the
time I had used four bottles I had a
finer, longer, and more luxuriant growth
of hair than I had ever had before. I
have since recommended this formula to
many of my Mends with equally won
derful results. I understand that this
formula can be prepared by all drug
gists, and I strongly advise all your
readers who have not yet given It a trial
to do so immediately.T. 11. P.
