As she watched the fiery tongue#

thought of a sled which hung in the

coming to the Strand tomorrow, a fea

are above the average as actors.
It Is not to he understood that "The
Whirl of Life" was designed primarily

of the Castles before their rise to fame,
the struggles and adversities experienced,

OP SOUTH meet
IN CONVENTION
Orlando, Fla.—The fifty-sixth gen
eral assembly of the Presbyterian
Church in the United States, known as
the Southern Presbyterian Church, was
opened here today with prospects of
discussions and actions of more than
usual interest to religious workers.
Interest in the first day's sessions
centered in the election of moderator.
This was to be taken up at the second
session, the first being devoted to the
sermon of the retiring moderator, the
Rev, W. McF. Alexander, D. D„ of New
Orleans, and the sacrament of the
Lord’s Supper.
Taking for the text of his sermon
I Cor. xv: 3-4, the retiring moderator
declared that the only proof that can
convince the human mind that a re
ligion comes from God is the proof
from miracles. "Make the resurrection
of Christ a lie,” he said, “and it vitiates
all the other evidence. The human
mind is so constituted that it must be
lieve the effect will correspond to its
cause. If God acts, it must be jn a
supernatural or superhuman manner or
the mind will refuse to believe that God
is acting. The only rational proof that
a religion can have that It came from
God is that It Is accompanied with mir
acres, superhuman, supernatural and
worthy of God. The resurrection of
Christ is such a miracle.”
At least four commissioners are ex
pected to he put forward for moderator.
Woman’s position In the church and
methods of raising church funds by
entertainments will take prominent
places during the assembly. An ad
Interim committee appointed last yfear
was instructed to "make a careful
study of the teaching of the Scriptures
on the whole subject of woman’s po
sition in the church and to report to
the next assemly.” To this committee
also was referred “The matter of the
church entertainments and kindred
matters of raising money for church
purposes.” These reports are looked
forward to with great interest.
“Country Churches.” *
This assembly is expected to con
tinue work In behalf of the country
churches to which was given so much
time in the meeting of 1915. Church
statistics nhow that thirty-nine and
one-half per cent of the 3,438 churches
in the southern ehurch are termed as
“country churches."
The assembly last year criticised
actions of the Federal Council of the
Churches of Christ in America and it
Is expected this subject also will be
brought up as will the matter of com
ity between the Southern and Northern
Church.
Many churchmen believe that at this
assembly an effort will he made to de
vise better plans for co-operative negro
presbyteries and churches.

An Easy Way to
Increase Weight
Good Advice for Thin Folks.
The trouble with most thin folks who
wish to gain weight is that they insist
on drugging; their stomach or stuffing it
with greasy foods; rubbing on useless
"flesh creams," or following some foolish
physical culture stunt, while the real
cause of thinness goes untouched. You
cannot get fat until your digestive tract
assimilates the food you eat.
There is a preparation known to re
liable druggists almost everywhere which
seemingly embodies the missing elements
needed by the digestive organs to help
them convert food into rich, fat-laden
blood. This modern treatment is called
Sargol and has been termed the great
est of flesh-builders. Sargol aims through I
regeneration, re-construction powers to
coax the stomach and intestines to liter
ally soak up the fattening elements of
your food and pass them into the blood,
where they are carried to the starved,
broken-down cells and tissues of your
body You can readily picture what re
sult this amazing transformation should
produce as with increased weight the
cheeks fill out, hollows about neck,
shoulders and bust disappear and from
10 to 20 pounds of solid, healthy flesh is
added to the body. Sargol is absolutely
harmless, inexpensive, efficient. T. <l.
Howard and other leading druggists of
this vicinity have it and will refund your
money if you are not satisfied, as per
the guarantee found in every package.
NOTH:—Sargol Is recommended only
as a flesh-builder and while excellent
results have been rei>orted care should
he taken about using it unless a gain < f
w eight Is desired.
